091 BONUS Just Two Good Old Boys Elections Special
Did the election night in Pennsylvania and the Rust Belt catch everyone off guard, or was it a masterstroke of strategy? We unravel the surprising victory of Trump and the eerie calm that followed in cities like DC and Baltimore, which were braced for chaos. As we ponder over the lack of expected unrest and the implications of these results, our personal stories and firsthand experiences paint a vivid picture of a nation in disbelief and contemplation. The unexpected voter shifts among Hispanic and Black male voters, as well as the Amish and Jewish communities, give us plenty to dissect about what this might mean for the political landscape.
Trump's strategic choices, including picking Vance as a running mate, seem to have played a crucial role in his sweeping success. We speculate on the possibility of a future Vance presidency and what that could entail. The conversation also touches on the role of capable leadership in shaping the administration, with names like Elon Musk entering the fray. For some, this election harkens back to the Reagan era, signaling a robust rejection of wokeism. Join us for an engaging discussion that not only revisits the past but also looks ahead at what these results might mean for the future.

Hey Ben, how are you doing today?
Speaker 2:Jesus Christ, gene, I'm all right.
Speaker 1:I'm all right. I didn't get much sleep last night.
Speaker 2:How about you?
Speaker 1:You know I probably got more sleep than you because I'm in central time, you're in eastern time, you're sitting in DC up there.
Speaker 2:Outside of DC.
Speaker 1:Well, sure, I'm in Maryland. Technically, the Pentagon is outside of DC, that's true, anyway.
Speaker 2:So um it was I. I gotta tell you I was surprised. Yeah, well, you know I was pleasantly surprised.
Speaker 1:I was very uh I I was very blackpilled. I will say that I was right. If you were watching tim cast. I was right there with, uh, the drummer guy or whatever, uh, the musician dude, I forget delavante yeah, delavante, because he was like it's about as black pill as me and thinking, just because we got it doesn't mean we got it, let's just wait and see what happens. Um, and then pennsylvania came through and it was like okay, that's it.
Speaker 2:We got it well, not just pennsylvania, though, like the entire blue wall states, yeah, the entire rust bell, but trump took they were leaning that way and they were closed.
Speaker 1:But pennsylvania would guarantee it. And when pennsylvania actually got listed as red, it was like holy shit, and it's not even midnight. Well, it was past midnight, holy shit, and it's not even midnight.
Speaker 2:Well, it was past midnight here, but you know what. That brings up a point why the hell did she wait so long to concede? She just now has called Trump and conceded.
Speaker 1:Well, she was waiting for her writers to stop crying and actually write something for her to say.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
Speaker 2:I mean, this is really just a repeat of 2016. Hillary did the same thing to him.
Speaker 1:Trump said women act in a particular way. I am yes.
Speaker 2:But I will say this Trump has a mandate. Not only did he win the Electoral College, fairly.
Speaker 1:I'm pretty sure he had a woman's mandate too.
Speaker 2:Yeah well, ha ha ha. But he won a large number of electoral college votes. He won the popular vote. Yes, he won the Senate, and it looks like he's going to hold on to the House.
Speaker 1:Yes, exactly.
Speaker 2:So this is a big F you and to anyone who thought it's a repudiation it is, but this is really if you thought they cheated in 2020, which this is OK we can say that now you know. Yeah, well, what makes you think they didn't cheat this time?
Speaker 1:I think that somebody mentioned that I think it was Carl Benjamin brought up a very good point, which is even if they cheated to exactly the same extent as they did last time, Trump had sufficient enough votes that it wouldn't make any difference. Exactly.
Speaker 2:Too big to rig, which means his landslide would have been even bigger. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:There's no little bits and pieces already coming in about things like the the wrong uh candidate being credited for votes, and oh yeah, lots of things.
Speaker 2:Now I I will say if the republicans don't maintain the house, the democrats have already threatened to not certify this election oh, I, I would love for that to happen it would mean civil war, dude, oh my god, there would be none of them left electoral college?
Speaker 1:uh, it would be interesting the last time that the democrats uh decided to be traitors like that blatant hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, you're, you're, don't, don't go down the wrong side of history here, gene I'm just saying that there's a uh, there is some history consequences for not certifying elections well, you know, all I can say is uh and if they think they're on the right side. Yeah, I welcome that challenge.
Speaker 2:Well, all I can say is DC is prepared for this. There are parts of DC Baltimore area and so on that are boarded up and ready for people to come out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, send some pictures. We'll include them in the description.
Speaker 2:Okay if I get that back out to those areas, but what I'll say is nothing's happened. So today I've been expecting to wake up and see riots and people flipping out and everything else, especially since they called it for Trump last night and so on. Right, I think we all expected that it has been eerily quiet Really.
Speaker 1:Yes, I mean. This makes no sense, though, Because obviously the Trump supporters weren't going to be rioting. So what's going on?
Speaker 2:I will see I'm going to be going into some interesting meetings, uh, tonight and tomorrow, all right and uh be around a lot of people who I think are still currently crying, so it will be very interesting to to note people's reaction to this.
Speaker 1:Are there palettes of rocks that are sitting on intersections right now, or not?
Speaker 2:none that I've seen.
Speaker 1:I haven't seen any bricks or anything like that bricks or rocks or anything okay no, but there's been.
Speaker 2:I mean, significant parts of downtown were boarded up, um, you know, uh, there's been some reports around it, but I I can verify that there are areas boarded up. I can tell you BWI, when I flew in, I flew into BWI that was the emptiest I have ever seen that airport, wow, which is just weird.
Speaker 1:Why didn't they have you fly into Reagan National?
Speaker 2:Because of where I'm staying in the Maryland area. Like I said, I'm in Maryland.
Speaker 1:Oh right, right, right right if I were going to the pentagon I definitely would have uh gone to reagan and I I like reagan.
Speaker 2:Reagan's one of my favorite airports it's an easier airport. Well it's and it's just a cool airport. Yeah, uh, dallas, I can't stand, but that's just dallas is traffic nightmare, even taking the toll road out there.
Speaker 1:It's, it's just. It always seems to take way longer than it should to get there and back.
Speaker 2:Well, that, and just moving around inside the concourses and everything is just a pain, but anyway, regardless, this was the emptiest I've seen BWI. It was really kind of a weird thing.
Speaker 1:Well, I would love to be a fly on the wall for the conversation that trump has with biden uh with biden or with uh kamala, I don't care about that no with biden is.
Speaker 2:By what do you think she's gonna?
Speaker 1:doing the transition thing. Yeah, what do?
Speaker 2:you think? Come on man what were we talking about?
Speaker 1:yeah, sorry, I just I don't think there's going to be much of a transition uh yeah, well I mean, it's a transition from obama basically back to, yeah, you know, just like it was last time.
Speaker 2:Frankly, what's really kind of great, though, is this is a like we've already said a big mandate, but this is only the second time in history a president has won non-consecutive terms.
Speaker 1:Yeah, who's the other guy? Somebody mentioned.
Speaker 2:Grover Cleveland.
Speaker 1:Cleveland. Ok, yeah, now what about Teddy Roosevelt? He ran, but he didn't win. Correct, ok.
Speaker 2:There have been other people who have attempted it it but this is only the second time in history a president has served non-consecutive terms.
Speaker 1:I'm waiting for this conspiracy. I'm waiting for the libs to come out and actually say this is Trump's third term. Yeah, no he did win, so he can't be. Yeah, I mean, it wouldn't take much for them to completely just forget about the last four years, and I probably should turn my phone off, but we're recording kind of an impromptu.
Speaker 2:Yeah, this is and this is just going to be bonus content.
Speaker 1:This is a short, short one for you guys, Just immediate reactions after the election Good news.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I got to tell you man, election good news. Yeah, I, I gotta tell you man um a trump chose wisely with vance. As far as I agree and, and you know, the rogan interview with vance the was fantastic. The um rogan interview with trump was fantastic and the fact that neither Kamala or Waltz could go on and do that spoke volumes.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I totally agree. I think, if you look at what was interesting to me, I hadn't seen this before, but I'm sure it's existed. There was a map on the New York Times that had a bunch of arrows. I think I sent you a copy of it.
Speaker 2:Yep, it's been on the news too yeah, that indicated by county.
Speaker 1:What was there a gain or a loss, and for which side? So you had blue arrows and they had red arrows. Counties that gained um more votes on the republican side versus democrat side yep and holy shit, no higher yeah the entire country between the very edge, the east coast, like the actual east coast.
Speaker 2:Voted obviously for biden, but all the like, well, but even even in new york and new jersey there were gains, massive gains but literally everything from about, uh, I'd say, 200 miles inland up until the mississippi was all gains for trump.
Speaker 1:It was huge. It like wasn't ronald reagan, which I still remember and that was insane, but but it was still huge gains. It wasn't just a win for trump and it's not just a mandate and I keep saying that because you like the word but it was also a repudiation of woke ism for a lot of people, even from the liberal side. There are a lot of groups that came out for Trump that historically have not come out to vote for Republicans.
Speaker 2:Yep, the Amish came out in Hispan hispanics, uh, hispanic males black males went uh all the black male people yeah did not, did not go as a group for trump, but the gains he made in that, and that's what I mean even down to new jersey. Trump only lost new jersey by five points. There was a ton of jews and if you look at the counties, because you kind of know who lives, I mean even down to New Jersey. Trump only lost New Jersey by five points.
Speaker 1:There was a ton of Jews. And if you look at the counties because you kind of know who lives in those counties- yeah, over half the Jewish voters voted for Trump. We know this by looking at high concentration areas of Jewish counties New York.
Speaker 2:State yeah, trump only lost by like eight points. Yep, exactly. Trump only lost by like eight points, yep, exactly. Let's put into context how close he came to this really being a true landslide. Yeah it was very and California was obviously as expected. But even California I think he got like 32% or 36%.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he closed the gap significantly. Yeah, it's, it was definitely. It's going to be a memorable election for a bunch of people younger than us younger than me, for sure who weren't around to watch the Reagan elections. This is going to be their version of that.
Speaker 2:Well, and quite frankly, Vance is a way better VP than.
Speaker 1:Betty Bush and absolutely here here's the thing if trump has any amount of success at all in this, uh, in this term, that is coming up vance, and whoever his running mate is will likely be a shoe in yeah, yeah, they'd really have to fuck it up for vance to not become the next president and he's already shown that he has the, the intelligence and that's one of the things trump said very possibly or vance haley uh or vance um uh not haley.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't know what you mean the tulsi gabbard, I misspoke wrong, wrong one. I mean no one wants hayley, no one wants hayley, yeah, yeah except you know the libertarians out there.
Speaker 2:They want hayley no one wants hayley. Yeah, I mean depends on which hayley.
Speaker 1:I said the pretty mean reply to the uh chick, that's the uh head of the libertarian party thing, who said we won. I was like we there's no, we here uh you had that opportunity, you all picked the pedophile. Uh, so no, we won and you aren't a part of this yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Well, I mean, the party just went to shit. Here's the thing you know had Trump, had they given Trump the Libertarian Party nomination, then, yes, you can claim that Exactly and that's what they should have done. Yeah, they should have done that and guaranteed the next steps, but they didn't.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, and had an opportunity to be involved.
Speaker 2:I think they'll still be involved in the administration. Yeah well, we'll see why wouldn't they be?
Speaker 1:oh, I don't know. I mean because they keep tripping over their own feet. Yeah, well, you know, chase oliver, but I think here's what I'm hoping for. Last time, trump ended up putting a lot of his relatives into positions of running groups of politicians, whatever you want to call it. I don't know if they were all in official positions in the cabinet or not, but it sure seemed like his whole family was involved. I hope this time he realizes the people he needs to put in there are actual business leaders like Elon Musk, that that are able to do a lot more than just family members.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so it's going to be really interesting to see when Elon Musk goes in and does does part of this, like what his involvement will be. Uh, I think he's made it very clear that he does want to go in, oh yeah, as an efficiency expert and start cutting government uh items I'm totally going to be applying for a position with him oh, yeah, yeah, go for it.
Speaker 2:Um, you know, the other thing that I think is going to be interesting is who trump's press secretary is going to be. Uh, I, I can think of some very funny examples, but I don't think there's a shot in hell.
Speaker 1:But well, the funniest has got to be um uh alex jones.
Speaker 2:Alex jones yeah, that's good like the funny, joe rogan would be a close second um I think, yeah, I don't know about joe rogan he's still a democrat dude. He may have endorsed trump, but he's still a democrat I a lot more so than tulsi or the other guys.
Speaker 1:You know who else would be a interesting choice, someone like peterson oh, jesus, I don't think he'd do it, but yeah, that would be a like they wouldn't know how to talk to him exactly. It would be hilarious to watch. What did he just say? I have to say that the uh, the cartoon dude that's on timcast, uh, freedom tunes, guy, guy. He does an incredible impersonation of him like really good impersonation real quick last few minutes before. I go for my next call.
Speaker 2:But you know, hey, timcast about to get bought by Daily Wire.
Speaker 1:I mean they were friendly they also had a call in to what's his face To the Mug Club.
Speaker 2:Yeah well, steve Crider doesn't have the money to buy, of course he doesn't, but but but they could do like some company exchange stuff. Come together, tim, tim cast and Mug Club and Jared could uh, gerald, uh, the ceo over at mug club could run it all right no, gerald is a buffoon yeah, no comment. Um, I can see him doing some sort of merger and collaboration I think it's weird to me that he shut down hannah clare though I wonder what she did.
Speaker 1:I she's gotta have done something, and it's probably here's my guess, because I've been in these situations with business owners multiple times they'll have somebody that they like and then they'll slowly start becoming disillusioned with that person, so that everything kind of gets amplified through a magnifying glass and there's usually a moment where you know it's the straw that breaks the camel's back to where they're like they want something done. They tell that person maybe not in the clearest way, just maybe you know they think they told them that person would say, well, that's not what you told me, and then it doesn't get done. And then the CEO is just like, well, fucking a, why did I hire this person? So I've literally seen that happen multiple times in companies and it's always somebody that they really liked previously. Um, and you know, tim basically pulled her up into being a regular on his show, which is, yeah, that's a pretty important position. So my guess is that because he kind of bitched about equipment.
Speaker 2:Well, and she was writing a lot of the news, though.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I think they bitched about equipment. My guess is that at some point she was put in charge of making sure studio was ready every day for broadcast.
Speaker 2:I think she would be very much the wrong person to put in that position.
Speaker 1:Tim is a horrible boss, and I don't mean in a mean way, I mean inexperienced.
Speaker 2:Yeah, in actual people management. Yes To your point that you've made before. He's trying to run it as a commune. Exactly, this is a multi-million dollar a year business. Yeah.
Speaker 1:So he thinks that well, he can do it. No, dude, you have to hire people based on merit and you have to set expectations, and you can do that with friends. But, man, it's a lot harder to do it with friends. You're better off doing it with people that are not friends. Yeah, exactly, so you can be mean yeah, and then when you bring it, like, if you want to bring friends, bring them in as as consultants, bring them in as contractors bring them in for projects. Yes, exactly.
Speaker 2:And on that note, Gene, we'll catch you Saturday.
Speaker 1:Well you, you have fun in DC Go.
Speaker 2:Yeah, hopefully I get out of here. Well, that is the only concern at this point.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we'll be back to our normal times. Thanks for everybody supporting us and we'll see you later, Ben Yep. Bye.
