Get access to our entire back catalogueDive into a freewheeling conversation that seamlessly weaves between nostalgic gaming experiences, automotive memories, and the rapidly shifting American political landscape. Our discussion kicks off with light-hearted exchanges about Battlefield 6's beta testing and car troubles before transitioning into more substantive territory.
We take a deep dive into Trump's controversial federalization of DC police, exploring how this unprecedented move has exposed potentially manipulated crime statistics while signaling a significant shift in federal-local power dynamics. The conversation examines the strategic redistricting efforts underway in Texas and other Republican-controlled states, analyzing how these changes could dramatically reshape congressional representation for years to come.
The Supreme Court's recent decisions feature prominently in our analysis, particularly regarding transgender healthcare bans and social media age verification requirements. We explore how these rulings reflect a broader cultural pendulum swing and what they portend for individual liberties in the digital age. Perhaps most fascinating is our examination of the surprising secessionist movements gaining momentum in Canada, where provinces like Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec are threatening to leave the federation—potentially redrawing North America's political map.
Throughout the episode, we maintain a conversational tone while digging into these complex issues, offering perspectives that challenge conventional narratives and examining how technological changes intersect with these political developments. Whether you're interested in gaming, politics, technology, or cultural shifts, this wide-ranging discussion delivers thought-provoking insights on the forces reshaping our world.

Gaming Catch-up and Car Troubles
Speaker 1Howdy Ben, how are you? I'm doing wonderful Gene.
Speaker 2Well, that's good. I'm a little tired, but pretty good.
Speaker 1Why are you tired?
Speaker 2Man just finished up a seven-hour session of Battlefield.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2Cool yeah, the Battlefield 6 open beta.
Speaker 1Yeah, and how is it?
Speaker 2It's very good. I haven't played any of the Battlefields ever since Bad Company, which was Battlefield 2.
Speaker 1That's a long time ago.
Speaker 2It is Probably 15 years, but this thing looked nice, so I thought I thought well, it's free, you might as well check it out. And boy, did that itch. Did that scratch?
Speaker 1an itch I've had for 15 years yeah, well, I started playing far cry 5 oh, you did nice oh awesome game not too far into it yet but, working on it so how, how far are you? I don't know, I'm still trying to, you know, rescue people liberate.
Speaker 2You found? Did you find the cache? What cache?
Speaker 1Of stuff. Yes, I found a proper cache.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, because the first one it kind of gives you. After that you have to find them yourself.
Speaker 1I don't know, I'm not that far into the game, man. So, we'll find out.
Speaker 2No, it's a great game.
Speaker 1Looking at cars.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, fuck at cars. Yeah, yeah, fuck my life, fuck my life with cars. Man, I'm just not having good luck right now Were you or somebody else, josh, his car crapped out.
Speaker 2Yeah, you were saying that it wouldn't start, or something.
Speaker 1Yep, so trying to move on, trying to find something different.
Speaker 2So it permanently didn't start.
Speaker 1Well, it's either the immobilizer ring or the ignition switch. I'm not willing to pay a diagnostic fee to find out.
Speaker 2Okay, how old is it?
Speaker 1oh, yeah, with like getting close to 300,000 miles yeah, it's not worth good points it is not worth putting a dime into.
Speaker 2So what do you think you're getting?
Speaker 1we're looking around, we're looking for cash cars and we're looking for probably under eight grand. So yeah, but like a 2012 yeah, well, actually, no, you can, you would be surprised, really so, yeah, so now you're going to have over a hundred thousand miles, but like there was a 2017 I think escape on there with 100 000 miles for like seven.
Speaker 2You should get him a prius.
Speaker 1He'll never drive fast I want to get him as cheap of a vehicle as I can get him is what I want to do. But you know what dude, I'm looking and I'm I'm. This has got me kind of looking for me too, because, like, here's an audi 2016, audi q5 premium yeah, no accidents, single owner, private sale, a hundred thousand miles on it for 10 grand why it's not a bad price nope, no one I wonder how much? No one wants old luxury cars.
Speaker 2Right, right. I wonder how much 100,000 mile recommended tune-up is.
Speaker 1Depends on the year, but Probably two, three grand. Eh, they're not that bad. Actually, some of the engines like, especially like on the Like. I was looking at a 2014 QS5, which has the supercharged V6. Right and it was right around 100,000 miles and it was like 6,000 miles.
Speaker 2Is that still a VR6?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Okay, I like that motor. I've always liked that motor Very good engine. Very reliable engine.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Very reliable engine yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So anyway, yeah, engine, yeah, very reliable, yeah, yeah, so anyway, yeah, I always like audis and I was close to getting them twice, but a better deal always popped up, but I couldn't pass up.
Speaker 1Well, my first real car was an audi, so I have a affinity. Yeah.
Speaker 2I get that. I'm sure someday I'll rebuy my own first new car.
Speaker 1Well, I won't go. I'm not going out there and hunting down an Audi 100 Quattro right now, but I am looking at something similarly equivalent in a way Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2Anyway, my neighbors, when I was a kid had an Audi 100 Quattro.
Speaker 1Yeah, the Audi 100 Quattro was. My first car was a 1989 Audi 100 Quattro and it was fantastic. It had an awesome stereo in it At the time. All I had to do was add some bass. It had a 12 CD changer in the back. Oh, wow, If you remember that, the old CD changers and everything oh, what a time to be alive. Oh wow, it had heated seats, know, it had a sunroof, moonroof, had a ski rack and all that it was. It was a all-wheel drive.
Speaker 2you know it was great that's a very nice first car well, I mean, it was old at the time but yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, yeah the fur it was. It was great and it was super reliable. I drove that all the way through college and when we sold it it had 300,000 miles on it. And the guy we sold it to drove it another like 60 something thousand Damn yeah and he wasn't maintaining it at that point in time.
Speaker 2You know it was a burn it down car for him well, did that have the 180 liter or was there having for an engine?
Speaker 1it had the inline five okay the dual overhead cammed inline five. And one of my later cars in life is I had a. I got a Volkswagen Jetta, but I got the Wolfsburg edition which had the modern equivalent of that inline five engine. Yep, yeah, Lindsay was looking at cars and she was like, is there such thing as a five cylinder car? And I'm like, yep.
Speaker 2It's a half of a 10 cylinder.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, essentially.
Speaker 2I did. I like their 2 liters. The first one that I almost bought was an A3.
Speaker 1Here's one. Here's one. You'll like this. Yep Audi 2015. Audi Q5 TDI Nice Premium plus All right With the 3.0 six-cylinder turbo diesel. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. All-wheel drive, eight-speed transmission for nine grand. Wow, that's a good deal. Yeah, how many miles? 107.
Speaker 2grand. Wow, that's a good deal yeah.
Speaker 1I mean miles 107. Hmm.
Speaker 2Hmm, oh, the diesels go a long time. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1Yeah, I was afraid, but 300,000 miles on the diesel.
Speaker 2There was some friends of my parents had a uh Scirocco.
Speaker 1What the fuck is.
Speaker 2Scirocco. What the fuck is a Scirocco? So the VW Scirocco was a like a sports coupe in the 80s and it was. I'm trying to think if they ever made anything like that later. It was look it up if you haven't seen what it looks like.
Speaker 1You know, I don't even know how to spell that SC. Oh, our rock go. Oh yeah. Named after. Named after warm, dry wind really interesting. That is an ugly, ugly, ugly car, and they do make a modern version of it.
Speaker 2It's an ugly car yeah, okay, so you looked up the original. Yeah in the 80s, that thing had four-wheel drive. I think there were very few. I don't know if they had the only one in town, but it sure felt like it.
Speaker 1This was my first car Like literally this color and everything.
Speaker 2Alright, let me open it.
Reminiscing About First Cars
Speaker 1I'm sending it to you as fast as I can. I had to reinstall Signal on the stop. Oh really, yeah, something went funky where it wouldn't start.
Speaker 2I had to blow all the data on the computer away and re-sync it, reconnect it, mm-hmm, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, neighbors had to tan one of those.
Speaker 1Yeah, mine was that blue green color like that. Yeah, great little sedan yeah and I and I drove it in the hills of Idaho, especially on a winter, you know, when there's snowy and everything you could kind of safely go into a ditch up on the hill, on the prairie up there, man, I, I drove that thing like it was a rally car. It's oh, yeah, yeah cool.
Speaker 2Well, you got a little reminiscent, sounds like yeah, yeah, man.
Speaker 1So how have things been, gene? Are we at war with russia yet?
Speaker 2I don't think so. Pretty good, but I honestly have not paid attention to anything other than Battlefield.
Speaker 1Other than video games. I'm not surprised.
Speaker 2Well, you know, battlefield came out, so last weekend was the first free weekend and this weekend is the last free weekend, so I'm trying to take advantage.
Speaker 1You know, Trump and Putin are meeting right.
Speaker 2I heard yeah In Russia.
Speaker 1In Alaska Right advantage. You know trump and putin are meeting right. I heard yeah, in russia, in alaska right in russia, uh huh, hey.
Speaker 2Trump says russia, he did not say russia, he did I. You will have to play back the video of him talking about it. He says yeah, we're gonna meet putin in russia uh-huh, anyway, it should be interesting, but but the they're gonna trade alaska for ukraine why the fuck would we do that? Uh you know, because we gotta save ukraine uh-huh.
Speaker 1Well, I don't think that's gonna be the. Uh, the deal made there. Gene, no, but I. But I think what's going to happen is they're going to come up with the deal and then they're going to go to basically just say here's what it is You've got no choice. This is it. You take it or you leave it.
Speaker 2Yep, well, hopefully Lindsey Graham doesn't convince Trump otherwise, like he did last time.
Speaker 1I don't think he will at this point. I think it's gone on too long.
Speaker 2I hope so, because that guy is just Talk about somebody that needs to be primaried. There's a guy right there.
Speaker 1Somebody that needs to have something happen to him.
Speaker 2Yes, so Brandon's running again.
Speaker 1Yes, I saw this and he. I love the, I love the banner he had behind him. Yeah, you don't do things because they're easy, but because we thought they would be.
Speaker 2The very honest banner Indeed. Well, he talks about how you know he almost got it last time and it's time to actually finish what he started. He knows now what to expect, he knows what to do, he knows how to get money. He's much more prepared. Even though he did really well last time, I think he's got a very good chance of doing it. When is the primary?
Speaker 1That should be starting here, you know first part of next year.
Speaker 2How early do you know?
Speaker 1You don't not off the top of my head, okay.
Speaker 2I wonder, if there's well, I'm sure there's enough time I should check in to see if I can find a super cheap apartment down there. Why to change my driver's license to that district so I can vote for him?
Speaker 1super cheap apartment down there why To change my driver's license to that district so I can vote for him. Okay, I mean okay. So the we know the congressional elections are November 3rd. I'm asking for the primary damn it.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 1Texas Secretary Alright deadline to file. Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2Yeah, if I can find something that can rent like month to month or you know, three months, maybe that's illegal and you're stating your intention to do so. What do you mean? It's not illegal. What for me to move? How is that illegal If you move? Sure, Of course I'm going to move, why wouldn't I move?
Speaker 1And you'd have to do your voter registration. The problem is, you're going to have to update your voter registration like now.
Speaker 2Oh, really that early? No, I can just show up with an electric bill. No, did you show up with an?
Speaker 1electric bill no.
Speaker 2That's what I did hear.
Speaker 1Okay, I think they've changed the law since then. Really yeah, because all it'll be is a provisional ballot. At that point. They will let you cast a ballot, but it's a provisional ballot, not a mainline ballot.
Speaker 2What don't we have same-day registration.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2What the hell, man? How am I supposed to help out?
Speaker 1Brandon, you'll have to rent the apartment for a little longer than you expected.
Speaker 2Three months should be long enough. Okay, three months should be long enough. Anyway, I gotta dig a little bit, figure out what that'll all take, cause I thought you could like just show up with a, now you can it's a provisional ballot.
Speaker 1Anyway, I'm getting my office up here, all nice and set up. I've got actual pictures and shit on the wall now, wow, and I've got some more art to hang on the wall. I've got a little mini fridge up here. I can live up here. Nice. I don't have to go downstairs.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's pretty. Now is that in Brandon's district.
Speaker 1Yes, yes, yes, uh-huh, Mm-hmm. No, I'm glad to see he's running again. I think he's got a very good chance of winning this time. Yeah. And I would love to see Congressman Herrera.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, Because you know what that means. He'd probably have a pretty good chance of getting into South Park.
Speaker 1Oh, he definitely would. I'm surprised he's not already. Are you? Kidding me.
Speaker 2Congressman AK.
Speaker 1Brandon Herrera, the AK guy.
Speaker 2But other than that I really haven't been paying attention to what's going on.
Speaker 1Well, you know, we've had several blocks of like Epstein's files and all that. I don't know that Back and forth? Yeah, Judge stopped that and they're appealing. Did you? You really?
Speaker 2Oh, you mean blocks as in blocked. I thought blocks as in like chunks.
Speaker 1No, as in blocking the release.
Speaker 2Okay, so nothing, really no. Update Correct as in blocking the release.
Speaker 1Okay, so nothing, really no update, correct Now what Pam Bondi dropped, evidence wise and Glenn Beck did a two part special on putting together and linking the deep state and really showing evidence of what Soros and the. Obama and everybody were doing a laagate and really kind of nailing it to the wall. Nice really kind of begs the question why aren't they being arrested? Yeah why, especially now, that?
Speaker 2trump's got his own police force in dc yeah, well, and that's yeah.
Speaker 1That's the other thing. Federalization of d, which he has already started to say he is looking at extending past the 30 days, which technically requires an act of Congress, or him to declare a federal emergency, which he can do. Everyone's like that'll take an act of Congress. They're never going to do it. Well, I can do it without them technically, and all I have to do is do the Insurrection Act. Yep, you know, I can do this anywhere.
Speaker 2Frankly, I think they should just start arresting Democrat members of Congress.
Trump, Putin, and Current Politics
Speaker 1As long as they're not going to or from the House, sure.
Speaker 2Kind of like we are here in Texas.
Speaker 1I'm sorry. Kind of like we are here in texas, I'm sorry, and like we are in texas, well, except they haven't arrested anybody and those democrats are still gone really what do you mean I?
Speaker 2thought some of them started coming back. Did I, did I? Was that just clickbait titles?
Speaker 1I haven't seen that.
Speaker 2I haven't seen anybody I haven't watched the video, but I still don't have enough for a quorum okay, I thought I saw a video posted that said texas democrats returning texas democrats you haven't seen anything like that well, I guess this was today.
Speaker 1I haven't watched anything today. Okay, dude, I was in back-to-back meetings all day today, so maybe, maybe, you're right cnn me signal they are ready to end the redistricting standoff and return to state. Oh, they signal they haven't yet oh, okay, okay got it. So that was click baby they're yeah, they're they're making, they're they're hoping that we've inspired people and they're trying to make a deal and yeah like that shit yeah, and you saw newsome talk about redistricting california good, luck on that Well, he can't. Exactly Not in time.
Speaker 1No, because he would have to get a special referendum going Yep. He would have to get that referendum passed to bypass the board, yep. And not only that how much more gerrymandering is really left in California? Mm-hmm. Right. When you look at illinois, same thing. Oh yeah, maryland the maryland governor talking about it, we're gonna do it, you don't have it.
Speaker 2It's really hilarious it's really funny because, like the governor of massachusetts came out over a week ago saying that, you know we can't believe texas is doing this, you know we're gonna. We're prepared to go ahead and flip a couple of our districts and make sure that they have Democrats. Only problem is there are no Republican representatives out of Massachusetts.
Speaker 1Yet they vote like 40% Republican.
Speaker 2Yeah, of course, of course. But they can't flip anything because it's done, it's fully gerrymandered, there's no threat there.
Speaker 1You have reached full gerrymanderization.
Speaker 2Yeah, exactly, congratulations, you get the little badge. Yeah, it's crazy, because this is a standard thing Democrats always have done. Texas is way less gerrymandered I think it's currently six percent than most other states and certainly than democrat states, but yet they're just like making this such a huge deal about the fact that it's going to get registered. Oh my god, I hope the republicans have some balls here and actually do what they started talking about, which is you know they already redrawn the map again. Oh they have Okay, good, good, good.
Speaker 1Yeah, some more they. They have got it down to where it looks like Texas will likely have only three different, three democratic representatives.
Speaker 2Yeah, one from Dallas.
Speaker 1One from Austin Yep, yep.
Speaker 2Exactly.
Speaker 1Literally, that's it.
Speaker 2That's it. That's it south dallas, west houston, which part of houston is mostly the democrat side?
Speaker 1north is definitely not the democrat side of houston, south south, south houston it is south as well.
Speaker 2Okay, southeast, it's definitely south side of dallas. Yeah, off of martin luther king boulevard there yeah, shocker yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1And then you know but you know, it's even the south side of the metroplex, right, grand prairie, and yeah, yep yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah but you know, houston does have some areas that are pretty conservative right in there too, like you know, like Bel Air and places like the other yeah but they're also real yuppie areas, yeah, so well, and they're in the middle of houston, surrounded by what about conroe? Oh god, conroe is very conservative.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's what I thought I had a customer that lived there montgomery county is retardedly conservative like, especially in their county politics. The people that they elect are just it's insanity. Yeah, like I'm not talking conservative in a good way, I'm talking absolute stupid Republicans. Right, right, right, huh, that you know. Oh my God, you can't drink on Sunday.
Speaker 2Yep, yep, drinking any day of the week frankly, but okay, well, you're not. I'm not. No, exactly no, it's. It would be awesome to get Brandon in. Yes, it would be yes, it would be yeah, yeah, I think the memes would just keep coming. Yes, so obviously I watch south park. I assume you watch both those episodes the trump one.
Speaker 1And then what?
Speaker 2well, the well. There's two of them. There's the first one episode and then there's this number two the charlie kirk one.
Speaker 1Charlie kirk is number two.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have not seen the charlie kirk one so that's the one that all democrats are pissed that the republicans changed their icons through the south park versions because they were so looking forward to having the Republicans crying conservative tears about being made fun of in South Park and shocker like this is awesome yeah it's, it's hilarious. I mean.
Speaker 2I am sure Trump is not a happy camper because he's running around with small penis. Not a happy camper because he's running around with a small penis, but everybody else. You know it's pretty cool to be in South Park, so I think it worked out. It worked out maybe not in favor of Republicans, but certainly In meme words definitely in favor.
Speaker 1Well, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2But it made the Democrats not get to feel any kind of ha-ha, pointing their finger at the Republicans being sore about the whole thing. So, yeah, it's a good thing, but you know, south Park was never conservative, ever in its history. It was always very libertarian and it made fun of both parties quite a bit. Uh, I think a lot, of, a lot of people didn't like the fact that they didn't make fun of biden, but I think that had more to do with what. At least what trey said is that they just wanted to stop doing politics for a while, or Clinton.
Speaker 1Like why didn't they make fun of Hillary Clinton during the election?
Speaker 2Oh, I think they had. They always had a crazy Hillary version. I can't recall. Shane Cashman. All right, what about him?
Speaker 1Just that, I thought it was a funny tweet, just sending something.
Speaker 2Days away from having a nuclear weapon.
Speaker 1Yeah, the IRS. I believe the IRS is days away from having a nuclear weapon. I don't think they've ever wanted a nuclear weapon. Dude, Dude, you're missing the point. It's how do you get a surgical strike on the IRS?
Speaker 2Well, do we even know where they're headquartered? Oh God, yes, they're kind of low. I mean, this is not the 80s, when the IRS was like blowing up the British left and right.
Speaker 1You're thinking of the IRA. I'm talking about the Internal Revenue Service.
Speaker 2Oh, you're right, I was thinking of the IRA. Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, okay, I see, so it's a joke, okay. Yeah because I think Shane's Irish so I just figured he was talking about his comrades there at the IRA. But no, you're right, it's irs oh my god.
Speaker 1Breaking news border patrol arrests outside of newsome event.
Speaker 2Oh, that's awesome that is great that is fantastic did you see the interview? I just saw clips, Didn't see the whole thing but of Newsome Bill Maher.
Speaker 1Yes, bill ripped him a new one. He sure did.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, bill is another guy that, interestingly enough, is kind of coming back to his roots. So the very Is he.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think so. Okay, the first time I ever saw him, he was making fun of feminism and, you know, women getting their panties in a bunch, and he was very much politically correct in the sense of anti-feminism, and he was very much politically correct in the sense of anti-feminism and then he veered off to the people that were paying him big money to. You know, be very liberal, yeah, but way back when in the late 80s.
Speaker 1That was his shtick. Well, bill maher's a funny guy. I have enjoyed his stand-up in the past, but he's funny looking guy too. Yeah, and he just went way off, yeah, into left field, you know.
Speaker 2In to left field, you know. In fact, there's a movie that he was in back from those days that was called the Cannibal Women of the Avocado Jungle.
Speaker 1Let's check that out. Okay, what am I Googling?
Speaker 2now Cannibal Women of the Avocado Jungle googling now cannibal women of the avocado jungle. It's basically a anti-feminist parody of the heart of darkness. Does that give you an idea?
Speaker 1okay, okay, okay. Here I am thinking you're sitting something.
Speaker 2Just terrible, no no, no, no, no, it's, it's genuinely fun. It's I mean it's. You know it's kitschy, but it is funny, and I think it was from the late 80s and it also starred one of the playboy playmates in there it's definitely a little campy yeah, a little campy, but that was right during when he was doing stand-up.
Speaker 1That was very similar to the us government, eager to protect the nation's avocado supplies, recruits feminist professor margo hunt to make contact with the, with the prima women in an all-female tribe who believe men are only good as a food source.
Speaker 2That's right see, bet, you didn't know there was a cannibals feminist in california I do now and then of course the question comes up well, how do they reproduce death by? And there is a, a sister tribe of beta males that lives nearby, where they do things like crochet sweaters and talk about their feelings, and Bill Maher was giving them shit in that movie. So it's again, it's what it. You know, don't have crazy high expectations, but it is one of those funny little kitschy things that I think you'd appreciate yeah, I'm sure I'll have to check it out.
Speaker 2By the way, since I'm out of topics, I'll make a PSA announcement that there won't be an Unreal Engine tomorrow.
Speaker 1Oh, okay.
Speaker 2Yeah, Darren's bought a new computer, so what did he get? I don't know. I'll find out when I do a show with him, but he says he's still in the process of setting it up and it won't be ready.
Tech Support Moment
Speaker 1Well, that's uh unfortunate, just have to. We should uh run this episode on the stream in its place oh, yeah, totally.
Speaker 2I mean again, I have nothing to do with it, but you should reach out to the powers that be and let them know. Yeah, well, I'll make sure I get this published today, okay well, on that note, let's pause for a second, all righty we can uh do a pause. All right, so we've paused now we're back magically yeah, sorry, p berg.
Speaker 1so I I do have a tech support moment that I would potentially like some help with. Sure, all right.
Speaker 2So I have. Are you trying to turn it on and off again?
Speaker 1All right. So I have a couple of things going on with the Mo too. Okay One if it's not being used and then I leave it alone for a little while. Yeah, and then I come back to it. The audio will not work.
Speaker 2So you're running.
Speaker 1Windows on that right, Windows 11.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I will bet you, I've checked the USB power settings.
Speaker 2That it is putting USB into sleep mode. I just said, I checked the USB power settings. Are you sure that there's not more than one place to check this?
Speaker 1So, windows 11.
Speaker 2Under power. Did you check them under power?
Speaker 1Okay, under power, it is no longer there. Oh. So, the registry seems to be normal. If anyone has another place to do it, that's fine.
Speaker 2Have you checked the BIOS to make sure that power saving is off?
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1This is a desktop computer.
Speaker 2Those would be. Yeah, I know, but sometimes desktop computers come with. You know green bullshit. Like they'll throttle down your Ethernet speed.
Speaker 1They'll make your USB sleep. So if anyone has a suggestion, I would love to do it. I'll just give you two. I will, but I can't do it during the podcast. Anyway, the other issue is if anyone knows how to update the firmware on the Motu Ultralight AVB.
Speaker 2I think you just log into its website and you hit the upload button.
Speaker 1Yes, you do, but there's a problem with that. What's that? You have to do it over the Ethernet port, not the USB port. Okay, and on the Ethernet port. When it reboots, even if you give it a static IP in update mode, it looks for DHCP.
Speaker 2And you don't have a DHCP ring.
Speaker 1I don't have a permanent port for the Motu right now. No, it's just plugged in via Ethernet into the back of my computer.
Speaker 2So I'm static on both, can't you put your computer into share my internet mode. I tried that, Damn it. Quit trying all the things I'm suggesting I tried that in bridging that connection I don't know what they've broke in windows 11 got rid of like 80 useful things out of windows 10 yeah and anyway running dhcp.
Speaker 1Sir, I don't really want to run a third-party dhcp server right now no I don't want to drag a cord across my house to the network closet just to update the firmware.
Speaker 2I'm certainly not going to pick up the moto and bring it over to the network closet I could do that, but it's there you go, wired in, so I'd have to pull cable. It's wired like, the power is wired in.
Speaker 1Yeah, but like all routed and stuff through the desk, the power is yeah, well, the power and the audio Okay.
Speaker 2Mine is just sitting on top of the computer.
Speaker 1No, mine's like actually tucked away and nicely done, yeah, yeah. Hmm. Hmm, I don't know. I just I wish they would have thought they like there's no technical reason why I shouldn't be able to do it over usb, none yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2I agree that they should should be able to do it over usb. I always assumed that by this point in time I'd be sitting on a brand new model of a Motu not the same one for the last decade, because it's been. It probably has been at least a decade since I got this thing, because I've been here 15 years and I think I got the Motu very soon after coming here Because it used to be on my Mac. So, yeah, it's an old device. At this point it's vintage.
Speaker 1Yep, but they're still coming out with firmware updates, so you ought to check the firmware on your phone.
Speaker 2I wonder what it does. It probably makes it work with Windows 11. Before.
Speaker 1I started troubleshooting a whole whole bunch and I noticed there was a firmware update that thought did occur, uh-huh uh, let me google it.
Speaker 2I wonder if I'm sure they tell you what's in there, right?
Speaker 1oh, I'm sure they have a release, but you know regardless now.
Speaker 2I'll refrain from trying to update it while we're doing the show yeah, don't do that, because it does require a restart uh, yeah, yeah, it says it requires a cat6 network cable there's no way.
Speaker 1The moto is 10 100.
Speaker 2yeah, well, I'm not just reading what it says on their website that you're not looking at the ultralight AVB. It says also, you can use a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.
Speaker 1Yes, that's the equivalent of plugging it into the Ethernet port that I have.
Speaker 2The latest firmware. Okay, why does the firmware update require a network cable Mm-hmm? That's an FAQ. We designed the firmware update to work over Ethernet, mostly for convenience of our customers.
Speaker 1Yeah, fuck you, it's not going to If you're a user with lots of network boxes.
Speaker 2You can upgrade them all from a distance without having to plug in directly and without having to download or run any updater software.
Speaker 1Right, but why not do both jackass?
Speaker 2We also decided on this approach for engineering reasons. We put a heavy emphasis on reliability. You see, when installing an update, the device will reboot into a stripped down recovery partition to guarantee that you can always finish updating even if the power goes out. Since updates can also affect the Thunderbolt or USB chipset, we can't use them from the update mode for engineering reasons.
Speaker 1Okay, that's fine, but you could upload to that reboot in that and then do it. You don't have to stream the update number one.
Speaker 2Well, you'd think so, wouldn't you?
Speaker 1There are ways around that. Number two okay, fine, fine, but instead of looking for a DHCP server when I have a static IP address configured, just use the fucking static IP address configured. Sorry, rant over, it's just a thing, Technology. I really wish there was a good alternative. To be honest with you.
Speaker 2I know Well, a lot of people use the big honking one, the RodeCat, yeah, but I don't want that on my desk Way too big yeah.
Speaker 1And you want it on your desk. So you have all the buttons and levers.
Speaker 2Yeah, but I don't want half my desk taken up for that crap. I almost never mess with those buttons.
Speaker 1It's very rare. Once you get it Unless you've got dynamic environments or something changing you're just not. So, the MK5 would be an upgrade, but it's not much of an upgrade and it doesn't have the Ethernet capabilities. But right now all the Ethernet capabilities are hurting me, not helping me, so it is a July 1st update.
Speaker 2Wow, okay, yeah, like I said, it just fairly recently came out, so it is a July 1st update.
Speaker 1Wow, okay, yeah, like I said, they just fairly recently came out.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I don't see any description of what it is. Hmm, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird. I would have expected them to have at least described what's what the differences are. Okay, well, I guess I'll update mine after we're done okay, well, cool, let me know if it breaks anything well, mine's plugged into the ethernet, so right, but I still want to know if it breaks anything.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, yeah, damn it, ben the one function.
Speaker 3I wish it had too, but I still want to know if it breaks anything.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, damn it, ben no, the one function. I wish it had to that, honestly, it's like the only thing missing as far as I'm concerned is I wish it had a power on after power loss.
Speaker 1Yes.
Court Cases and Redistricting
Speaker 2Because if there's ever a power loss, or an actual reboot function. Yeah, yeah. So it's just a couple of things, anytime it powers off you have to push the button at the power back yes, yep, and I wish it would have just came back on by itself, but but I was. You know, I can't complain about the sound sounds great, the features are great, everything is good support. Support's good. Yeah, yep, it's just. It's a small company that makes mostly expensive products yes so and this is the cheapest of them.
Speaker 1This is pretty much the cheapest of the of their professional of their professional line, exactly exactly.
Speaker 2They do have a couple of pieces that are sort of hey, you want to make a podcast.
Speaker 1That are straight audio interfaces. No, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Now I will say a friend of mine said that the Rodecaster Video is really good as well. He thought that was a very nice device. So that's another thing I was thinking could be worth testing.
Speaker 1I don't need Rodecaster 50.
Speaker 2Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1Now are you talking about the Rode Streamer X audio interface and video capture card?
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Are you sure?
Speaker 2How much is it? $249.
Speaker 1I'm definitely not talking about it.
Speaker 2No, this was inexpensive because it was like 1300 bucks. But he liked that. He thought it was a very good compliment and the stuff is virtual, so who liked it a buddy of mine who does video stuff okay, so he picked one of those up what?
Speaker 1It wasn't Brushwood, was it?
Speaker 2No, no, no, it wasn't Brushwood, no, no.
Speaker 1Brushwood's kind of a cheapskate. Well, I mean, he's, you know, got kids.
Speaker 2Yeah, everybody's got kids.
Speaker 1You don't have kids. I don't have kids, but you know what I mean.
Speaker 2But you were among the majority of men in history? Yes, yes, so I don't know. It's the other thing I was telling you about. Is they? They have a microphone? Rode those the something, something mic one or something that has a built built-in dsp, that has a noise gate but you know, I I like my 320.
Speaker 1Yeah, 320 is a good mic. I like the sound and you know there's a lot to it. Here it's yep, and I don't really want to switch away from the setup, but at the same time. It's annoying.
Speaker 2Yeah, Now what's the gizmo you were telling me about? Let me look this thing up. It's a road. What?
Speaker 1Road streaming X. Okay.
Speaker 2Hmm, okay, so it's kind of small.
Speaker 1Yeah, like one XLR input.
Speaker 2Yeah, hmm, interesting, and it's the only one that they got like that. What?
Speaker 1do you mean that's small?
Speaker 2I mean there's not a Streamer 2 or Streamer 3 or anything, Not that.
Speaker 1I'm aware of no. And it's got HDMI in and through and out and as you can see this looks kind of interesting. I need to look at what you know. Does it have a noise gate? Does it have you know?
Speaker 2Oh, it's got a noise gate. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1Yeah, so for that price? You know, that might not be bad $249, it's not bad.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, it's. The Rodecaster video is the one he was talking about. So it's $1,200 it looks like, but it's the same kind of idea, except it does more video stuff.
Speaker 1Right looks like, but it's. It's the same kind of idea, except it does more video stuff right, but this is just one, and it's you know, uh, I capture coming through, so, yep, it's pretty useful for piracy. Well, you should buy this. Why should I buy this? To test it, yeah, but I don't want to buy something that isn't going to work with linux.
Speaker 2It's going to work with Linux.
Speaker 1Uh-huh.
Speaker 2People use the Rodecaster in Linux.
Speaker 1Dude, I just found this. I'm going to do some research and then we'll go from there.
Speaker 2Well, the best way to research is to buy it.
Speaker 1Yeah, but then I've got to Speaking of. You want those?
Speaker 2glasses of mine, then Is that what you were saying? No, I do want the damn keyboard, though, because I need a backlight. Yeah, still got that sitting here in the box. It's got two USB connections in the back that are USB-C. That's cool, it's got headphones.
Speaker 2I just got three USB-C connections but one on power yeah one on power, I'm not counting that one and then HDMI in and HBMI out and a genuine microphone. What do you call it? Jack? The? What's the big fat jack for microphones? Xlr, that's the one. Yeah, this thing looks like it's got everything you need and I'm looking at it, plus video. Plus it's got four bongos. You know you need those. For what bongos?
Speaker 1bongos, touchpads oh yeah, who cares about that? Well, all the podcasters, obviously I mean but that's what I have my stream deck for. Oh yeah. I mean, I guess I could Baba Booey.
Speaker 2Baba Booey.
Speaker 1I guess I could hook up some funkiness to it or something, but yeah, yeah, I don't use my stream deck for effects, but some people do. I don't either. I use it actually for, like on my main screen, there's some clipboard stuff tasks desktop. You know Yep Timer for when we're doing the podcast.
Speaker 2Yep, same here. You know some tickers, so it's got an Apex audio processor, which is one of the big pluses that I wouldn't mind getting again. I used to have an Apex. That was very good. Okay, tell me about the afx, the afx is the company that they bought, that used to make the big bottom that darren uses to make himself sound oh, bassy and rich big bottom darren big bottom, darren, because you know darren's natural voice is higher pitched than mine.
Speaker 2But when he's got that big bottom turned on, no, it just smooths it all out. It also has a what is it? It's a acoustic. What do they call it? Acoustic quantizer or something I can't remember. It's basically it all. Apex made the shit that people that did radio used to use all the djs and then road bottom. They were a analog company very cool yeah, ultra, no noise, high gain preamp, powerful afex, audio pressing, hdmi connectivity, 44 K 30 streaming and 4k 60 pass-through.
Speaker 1That's cool, so you could like record your 4k monitor basically yep dual usbc connection which actually, hey, that might actually be a really good way of lightening the load on your gaming PC.
Speaker 2How's that, oh do you have a separate device.
Speaker 1Yeah, do a separate device.
Speaker 2I've got one. I bought one, I just don't use it.
Speaker 1Well, but my point is like you could have the Mac Mini.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1That's why I bought it.
Speaker 2Here's the problem I ran into Is I bought a really high-end device. It actually does 144 hertz, not just 4K 30 or 60. 4k 144. And I was all excited and it was about $250. I plugged it into the Mac and then I swung back behind my monitor and that's when I realized that I'm not using HDMI. What are you using? I'm using DVI. Well, that's when I realized that I'm not using HDMI. What are you using? I'm using DVI.
Speaker 1Well, that's easy. You can convert DVI and HDMI back and forth.
Speaker 2You can't do it at 144 hertz.
Speaker 1No, because DVI doesn't run at 144 hertz.
Speaker 2Well, it does, the new DVI can, the old DVI does not.
Speaker 1Right, but so just don't do 144 hertz capture. I mean, oh, so you can't max out the device. So oh, what's the fucking point?
Speaker 2I mean, my monitor is 144, my computer spits out 144. I bought a gizmo to record 144. It's just the wrong cable. That's the problem, so I don't use it. I and I forgot to return it so I'm stuck with my capable of 144 what your monitor's not capable of yeah, it is, it's 144 hertz and just get a us uh hdmi to dvi cable like I have that. It doesn't work that way. It doesn't work that way I have.
Speaker 1I literally have that on all three of my monitors. You don't, you don't, I do.
Speaker 2You can get a converter, but it won't work at 144. The two standards are different. It'll work at 60, it won't work at 144 so record at 60 if I wanted to record at 60, then I would have just used a normal HDMI cable to begin with, but 144,. You know, for professional gamers that play Battlefield like me, I need every advantage I can get to shoot things. Okay, I suck at this game right. I'm getting my ass shut up left and right, and I did it on stream today for seven hours okay, masochist I mean, I'm trying to get better, you know okay
Speaker 1I hear it takes 10 000 hours and you're gonna do that in two weeks I'm gonna try to that doesn't math.
Speaker 2Gene it doesn't math you'd be surprised, my friend, you'd be surprised I can do a thousand hours in about a month.
Speaker 1Yeah, in a month yeah, jesus, why would you do that to yourself I?
Speaker 2know it's very painful. You're basically you're. You're playing for 16 hours a day at that point and it's it. None of it's enjoyable, it's purely training.
Speaker 1Should I pick up the eBay model for $150? For what now? For $150 off of eBay? No, save $100? Hell no. Or should I get the Sweetwater Gear Exchange for $200 and save $50? I would do that. Why wouldn't you go with the eBay one?
Speaker 2I don't fucking trust eBay man.
Speaker 1Ah, you don't trust anything.
Speaker 2I do trust Sweetwater. They're a good company.
Speaker 1Sweetwater is an awesome company.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1They will answer your questions.
Speaker 2They will also call you. If you buy enough shit from them, your sales rep will call you and say hey man, I noticed you bought a bunch of Motu gear. I just wanted to let you know we got some new Motu products and we'll give you an extra 5% off if you want to buy it right now. I used to get those phone calls back when I spent money.
Speaker 1DC police to share information with federal immigration officers.
Speaker 2Oh, no, wow, is that illegal?
Speaker 1or something, or something. No, it's just against the dc yeah, standards or code of ethics or against their policy, no, the city council and what the council has put on them. But it's not, it's not illegal, it's just their policy not to yeah, not to associate. But now they're in a different chain of command they sure are.
Speaker 2Yep, yeah, I think it should always have been that chain of command it's it's silly that the president doesn't have his own rule.
Speaker 1Act has a good shot at getting overturned. To be honest with you, yeah, yeah, yeah now I?
Speaker 2you know I'm not, but I'm getting closer to the point of just not caring about the Epstein files. When Trump keeps doing more good shit, I'm going to care less and less.
Speaker 1Well, I still care, I still want to see it. I am not going to ignore what Trump is doing See what you know to to just throw him under the bus, like people who are sitting there saying I'm not going to vote in the next election this, that and the other.
Speaker 2Well, I was kind of leaning that way myself, but if he keeps doing good stuff like he just did, an executive order that basically prevents credit card companies from using damage to reputation as a reason not to not to approve sales of certain things like they were, they were essentially telling stores that things that could make the credit card companies look bad are not going to be allowed to be sold, and the example of that might be oh, I don't know Black guns with 30 round magazines. Yeah.
Speaker 2They could just effectively shut down without any law. They could just prevent people from being able to buy them because they have a policy and most recently it's a video game thing to where Steam had to take all their adult games off because the credit card processors, Visa and MasterCard, told them Are you going to talk about it in between?
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah yeah, so Trump did an executive order that basically says that is not a valid reason and if you keep using it as a valid reason, then we'll be happy to sponsor some legislation that will tell you exactly what you can and can't use as a reason. So we'll see what happens.
Speaker 1So, in a similar vein of shit, that has unintended consequences and something we've been talking about. So the supreme court decided not to hear the challenge to miss Mississippi's new law blocking age-restricted media and so on.
Speaker 1So, the law, for those who don't know, blocks minors from accessing social media and different sites without parental consent and has pretty heavy requirements on the operators of those sites. Very similar to the Texas porn porn law, except it's broader. It would include porn, but it also includes like instagram and facebook and so on. Yep, so basically where do you? Stand that id is a coming.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah asman gold said that a while ago yeah, but I'd fuck it, dude.
Speaker 1no, I grew up in the heyday of the internet. I saw a bunch of shit that I shouldn't have Did it fuck me up?
Speaker 2Probably yes, it did yes it did.
Speaker 1But you know what? Fuck it. My parents' job to stop them, not the fucking government.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, no, that is true, I agree with that. But also, that's not a hill I'm gonna die on I am not giving my photo id to websites I've had a few people come out in my discord that say hey, you know, youtube's gonna start requiring ids soon, so I probably won't be watching you soon. I'm like all right, dude, you know it's your deal like because of this, and austral United States and Australia.
Speaker 1Now YouTube is experimenting with facial recognition for age.
Speaker 2I don't care, dude, I pay for YouTube with no ads.
Speaker 1I don't care, because you're an adult and you don't have kids that you're worried about what the hell they're going to kind of place they're going to grow up.
Speaker 2No, I'm on the other side of that. I want everybody's ID checked why, because I don't, cuz I already pay them and they already have my ID, so I'm fine with it. That's what I mean by I don't care. I'm okay with the internet being for adults only, I don't need an internet for kids. They can have their own internet.
Speaker 1Or or or. You know kids that get a hold of their parents' credit cards and use that for whatever.
Speaker 2Yeah, there was a. There was a way to do this that was available back about 15 years ago. I thought for sure this is what was going to end up happening, but it didn't. When the XXX domain came out, it was a perfect opportunity for the United States government to pass a federal law that basically said, if you have adult content, you have to have a XXX instead of com domain.
Speaker 1Yeah, but com is a global domain.
Speaker 2I know, I know, but this is for American companies, right? Not for companies in other places. Like that would have made it easier for people that are looking for porn to find porn. You could have had a whole, you know, like Google or Yahoo, of triple X for searching for new cool content. You wouldn't need to do any kind of air verification, bullshit stuff, cause you know if you're going to triple X it's for adults only. That's all that's in there. So I think it was a missed opportunity, and by not doing that now you've got hundreds of different domain types, any of which could be for adults.
Speaker 1Indeed. So anything else on that before we move to the next topic.
Speaker 2No, I'm fine. I mean I don't have a strong opinion, but my general opinion is I don't care, I'm fine with doing IDs for that, that's fine.
Speaker 1So there are two more court cases I want to talk about that happened in the last 24, 48 hours. So one the US Appeals Court came out and said Trump can slash billions owed in USAID funds so a bunch of payments that were supposed to go to contractors and stuff like that If the services had not been fully delivered remaining funds can't be cut Yep, so that is a huge win for Doge. It's fantastic.
Speaker 1Yeah, that is very good, I agree so the eighth circuit follows the supreme court upholding the tennessee transgender ruling. But it goes further, because the arkansas transgender law bans first in the nation, ban on gender transition care for minors. Nice, anyway, so that law is now in force. Good, and that was an eight to two ruling, by the way.
Speaker 2Yeah, that was not, you know, a tight ruling well, I'm definitely seeing a lot more content out there on x and other, even on youtube dude it's flipping.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's absolutely flipping yep we, we are winning yeah we gotta let up pressure you gotta keep the pressure on yeah, don't let them regroup, run them to ground. Yeah, that's why.
Speaker 2That's why every, every red state should be doing what Texas is doing with redistricting. Every red state should permanently remove all Democrats from office.
Social Media Age Verification
Speaker 1Well, the thing is. So we're going back to the gerrymandering fight, but it's a good point. So the thing is, texas isn't the only state that can do this. Ohio can redistrict and get rid of Democrats yeah they should. Florida can redistrict and get rid of a bunch of Democrats. Yep, yep, georgia can redistrict and get rid of a bunch of Democrats.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's a. If you don't just know that, when the situation is reversed, the democrats won't think twice about doing it. Well, they already have though exactly, and that's why they won't think twice about doing it again. So I I think it's nice to see republicans, for once, actually grow some balls except lindsey graham. No, I can't believe they keep reelecting that fucker. Is that whole district gay or what?
Speaker 1He's a confirmed bachelor.
Speaker 2Yeah, lindsay the bachelor, like that guy I just. And I don't care what he does in the bedroom, I just, I don't like what he does in office.
Speaker 1Yeah, I agreed.
Speaker 2You know it was clearly from the other story back in the day did you?
Speaker 1did you see that there's a challenge to oh burgerfeld? No there's been pay. I forget who filed it, I think it was. Oh my god, I'm blanking on who filed it now, now that I'm bringing it up, but a challenge was made to Obergefell on grounds that the ruling was improper because there was no federal law, da-da-da-da-da. Jurisdiction. So a jurisdictional item, and it will be interesting, considering the current makeup of the court, whether or not obergefell goes away. Which bergerfeld is. What made gay marriage legal?
Speaker 1yeah, I think that there's growing resentment going on you know, the, the, the I mean people joked and mocked the Christians for saying hey, since you love gay marriage, it's going to, just, you know, pedophilia is going to be next.
Speaker 2So you're going to have it's going to snowball, it'll snowball and I I definitely have to say I was on the side of the people going, yeah, come on, it's really not a big deal, who gives a shit? But but it has totally snowballed and I think it's going to be a race right now. It's going to be a race between all gay rights being removed, which won't happen all at once. It'll happen slowly, just like it happened in the other direction, and a race. On the other side of that race are the actual gays and lesbians that want to keep what they got and just get rid of the trans. Get rid of the trans, get bunch of people that have very little in common with somebody who's like a gay but otherwise normal person you know so here.
Speaker 1Here's a another interesting one that we need to talk about. There is a growing call on because the Democrats are all saying why is Trump doing this? Federalization of DC? Dc's crime statistics are this, that and the other? Well, what it turns out is it looks like those crime stats have been manipulated quite a bit. Okay. We've got FOIA requests going out and people digging into this, so that'll be interesting to follow and find out.
Speaker 2I think a lot of government shit is manipulated. Oh, yeah, absolutely. It's why you can't trust anyone In the end.
Speaker 1Great Britain is totally lost.
Speaker 2Oh yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, did you see the story about the two female police officers? I wrote a thing about it, yeah, yeah, jogging outfits, and when they got cat called they arrested the guy exactly. Yeah, when you you dress like a slut, you get called a slut and then you arrest the person, my god.
Speaker 2So I said, look, this is the thing that will get britain to have a law that enforces hijabs, because you can't have women cops walking around arresting guys. Because you know as well as I do that most of the people doing the catcalling are going to be Muslim Not everybody, but a very large chunk of them. They're going to do more than catcalling too. They're going to do cat raping.
Speaker 1Well, you know the joke right.
Speaker 2Which one.
Speaker 1You build a thousand bridges. No one calls you a bridge builder. You fuck one goat.
Speaker 2Yep, that's right. If it were only as easy as that, then the UK should just import a bunch of goats and then maybe their female population wouldn't be getting raped all the time.
Speaker 1One of the stats I saw and they get little boys, like they already do.
Speaker 2Well, the British were always a little.
Speaker 1You know, it's not all Muslims by any stretch, Like I went to. So I took my daughter and I needed some coals for the hookah.
Speaker 1So we went to the local halal market down the street and I really like this guy because he does nothing but work his ass off. It's his son, his daughter and him that work this. He's got this grocery store and then they've got a tobacco shop and they've got a couple businesses and they all work them like crazy, like this guy is always working and real nice guy yeah, funny, hamas got it he does have a jar for palestine in there, but he's a real nice guy anyway.
Speaker 1My little blonde hair blue-eyed daughter and I went in there and he was just oh, she's so cute and giving her candy and stuff and just real nice.
Speaker 2And you know they're good people of all creeds and just explain to your daughter not to accept candy for muslims comes with a price it was a packaged cookie thing. I know, I know, but it comes with a price. Anyway, you might have just gotten engaged and you're not aware of it.
Speaker 1Okay, all right, gene enough with the uber Jew mm-hmm.
Speaker 2I'm saying, dude, it's, how long is gonna take Christians to realize that that there's a crusade going on and it's going into Europe, not out of Europe?
Speaker 1uh, it definitely is.
Speaker 2I agree, it's a colonization move yep so, and then there's a couple of groups out there that I found in in europe and in the uk that are getting pretty ready to oppose this big time well, there are definitely some groups and there are a lot of.
Speaker 1There are a lot of people who are turning around looking at tommy robinson and going. You are a lot of people who are turning around looking at Tommy Robinson and going you are a flawed hero here, man, but you were absolutely correct, you were ahead of the game. On this, we should have listened to you, yep.
Speaker 2Yep, I agree, he's a good guy. He's got the bums rap out there and I don't know man it's. I don't know if they, if they, are rescuable at this point.
Speaker 2I think the there's so much a war yeah, like a real war, not a pretend war yeah a lot of people are going to need to die in the UK for them to get their country back, and I don't know that they have the balls to get their country back or the number of people that have balls that would want to do it is probably not sufficient well, let this be a cautionary tale to any Republican who says I believe in common sense gun control. Yeah right.
Speaker 2Hey, speaking of, did you see the post on X, or a retweet that I did of gosh? What was her name? She's a Texas running for texas congressional.
Speaker 1It's all that you sent it to me.
Speaker 2I haven't watched it, but yes oh it's, it's, yeah, it's good, it's good it's. She is a firecracker. I wouldn't mind meeting her at some point. She's like this Latina type chick, and I'm not sure from where exactly, but she is an absolute firecracker. Very anti Islamification. Yeah.
Speaker 1Have you seen the memes going back to the DC thing again, of people taking the map of DC and noting the highest crime zone in DC and circling? The capital really yeah nice well, they're not wrong.
Speaker 2Yeah, they're not. The whole damn city is just one big corrupt pile of you know what. So it's hard to the.
Speaker 1The reason why I want the the epstein list to come out is I really do think we could get rid of two-thirds of our politicians.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah, I think so as well, but also this is why I've said from day one I don't think it'll ever come out, because it's got a, it's a, it's a two-edged sword, and everybody knows it.
Speaker 1Well, I think that's what it needs to be. Yeah, Let the chips fall where they may For those who are honest brokers it will be okay. For those who were not, then heaven, heaven help you. You will get what you deserve. Yep, and you know. That's one thing that you know people get. It's very easy for people to become nihilistic when you see people quote-unquote, getting away with it in this life One of the things that's nice. As a Christian that believes in the afterlife, you know I have the luxury of my beliefs and knowing that they will get their just desserts in the end.
Speaker 1It's also why, you know, I don't think I would succumb to torture very easily, because you know what you do to me, I don't know, it doesn't matter anyway. It's funny, though, that the whole dc thing got kicked off with big balls her shirt did I lose you gene?
Speaker 2no, did you lose me?
Speaker 1I said something about this. All started with big balls getting his ass kicked.
Discussing Gun Ownership
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, I heard that You're distracted looking at this. I told you to check out her shirt. Did you see her?
Speaker 1shirt. Yes, don't be weak and gay. I love that. She needs a little bit of an upgrade there. Yeah, all right. By the way, did you see that? Uh, trump is restoring the Confederate monuments to Arlington?
Speaker 2I did, which is very good.
Speaker 1Yep and renaming basis back to where they should be Yep. This is all good things for our society.
Speaker 2Oh, I agree, I think it's a. Like I said, he's doing a lot of good, but it'd still be nice to get the Epstein list up.
Speaker 1Agreed, but I'm not willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2No, I hear you.
Speaker 1Alright, anything else we want to cover. We're a little light today because you've been playing.
Speaker 2Well, yes, we're light for a reason. Because I've been. It's because it's Battlefield Weekend. That's the important part. She reassembles again in the water.
Speaker 1Good for her. Yeah, uh-huh.
Speaker 2Yeah, let's wrap her up, man.
Speaker 1Here's a New York Post headline, and this is a great meme Substitute teacher had sex with 11-year-old boy during quote-unquote play dates, and then blaming him for supposedly coming on to her. And then it's Jerryerry seinfeld underneath saying just once, I would like to hear a woman admit that something was their fault oh, that's pretty good, that's pretty good, although for the 11 year old boy she did nothing wrong.
Speaker 2Man, she did nothing wrong. I mean she did nothing wrong. I mean, who didn't have a hard-on for their teacher?
Speaker 1You get into junior high, you got all those young teachers right out of college, what I was homeschooled at 11,.
Speaker 2So no, okay, you didn't have a hard-on for your teacher, I guess. No I did not. The rest of us did yeah.
Speaker 1No it is a there was one decent teacher when I went to public school in high school okay, well, I couldn't too late by then.
Speaker 2I mean, you don't want to be dating teachers when you're in high school, you want to do that in junior high, something like that anyway, yeah, let's wrap her up and we'll uh, we'll probably have a longer show next time because this is the last weekend for battlefield until it's released.
Speaker 1So it's not when it's released.
Speaker 2I already bought it. It's not. It doesn't come out till mid-october, so this is this is like the last chance to actually play, last time a couple months.
Speaker 1He did a open beta like this.
Speaker 2It's been a while, I think, so yeah yeah, usually they do closed betas where you have to have a key yeah yeah, open, and so they got on. The first weekend they got a little over half a million players consecutively, which is, I think, the highest that they've ever had of any of their games online at the same time. So this game I'm telling you, a lot of people have been looking forward for this game for a long time, because this is really going back to the roots of battlefield of battlefield.
Speaker 2This is not the kind of bullsh of versions that they've had for the last few versions, which are, you know, battlefield, 2040 or whatever 2080.
Speaker 1right.
Speaker 2This is modern warfare this is basically just right back to which was really the second battlefield game, which was, you know, took place in Iraq. This one takes place in Europe, during World War III. So well done. The destruction is very good, meaning that buildings can disintegrate through multiple different parts. It's not just you hit a building with a tank and it falls down. You can launch a grenade launcher at a wall and the wall will just have a big hole in it, or the floor, and the floor will fall down, but you can still use the rest of the building. So it is very realistic looking. It's obviously full 4k, full resolution did interesting, yeah, cool.
Speaker 1Did you see that one of the gay dating apps I want to say grinder, but it may not have been came out and said if the supreme court bans gay marriage to that Oberfeld decision that they will release. They'll dox all the closeted Republicans.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1Exactly. That's my way with that Okay, Lindsay your secrets.
Speaker 2I mean not really a secret for most of them.
Speaker 2I think, past that being a thing, it's not a yeah, that's not a not really a threat when they actually go and get married? Oh no, is Dave Rubin going to be like a dox because he's gay? Right, yeah, it's. We just need to keep the pressure on. That's the key thing. That's why I keep coming back to because it's. I know that there's a lot of these Republicans that just don't like getting their hands dirty and they, oh well, we're not Democrats, we're not going to do that. Fuck you, bitch, man up and start acting dirty, Okay.
Speaker 1And hopefully Texas can lead the way. Well, and you know what? If we can't, if the house goes to the democrats, yep, fucking time to leave.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, that's what that uh caa dude that keeps sending your videos says well, I'm talking about as a state, but you know oh, yeah, yeah, no, that's we should there we.
Speaker 1We say we're wrapping up, but I I did think of two more stories.
Speaker 2I want your opinion okay, sure go for it one.
Speaker 1Did you see that trump exposes that over 275 000 illegal aliens have been found on social security rolls? No, I didn't hear that. Yep, and they are now off of them. Good, that's so. That's significant. I mean that that's not an insignificant amount of people and it's probably just the tip of the iceberg I'm sure that's not everybody.
Speaker 1You're right so, yeah, it will be interesting to see where this continues to go. I think everyone who was thinking, oh, doge is done and that was a disappointment, I I think you're wrong. I think they identified a lot of things and it's just taking its time to wind through the process and the courts and everything to really I mean they, they.
Speaker 2You know, they got rid of musk, but they kept big balls well, they didn't really get rid of musk. He was almost out of time anyway yeah, but you know, trump says he fired him yeah, well, yeah, we'll see.
Speaker 1Yeah, I, I really think part of me thinks that that is just a, a fucking ploy man okay, thank you where we go one we go all the other one is canada yeah, I've been seeing pictures of canadian maps joined with the us quebec. Yep is now in response to saskatchewan and alberta. Quebec is now threatening a referendum.
Speaker 2Well, I told you they've been threatening to leave for years oh, yeah, yeah, the quebecois have been you know they came in within a percent. And they don't even care if they're surrounded by another country.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2So I think there's a good chance that they'll actually do it. Well, how awesome would it be if Canada is in a position where, as soon as the first province leaves, it's over, it is totally over. Yeah Well, and then, especially since you know it started with where's Edmonton, that province, when? Edmonton is Alberta, but then surprisingly, to some extent it looks like their British Columbia neighbors are also on board.
Speaker 1Except for Vancouver. Yes, so you have the entire tough shit vancouver you have the entire western side of canada between british columbia, alberta and saskatchewan. Yeah already, yeah like I mean we're gonna have a contiguous us from alaska.
Speaker 2It's like we're gonna have the contiguous 49 states or 52 states or whatever or however many we break them into.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah well, remember, you can't have a state with, just you know, bears living there yeah, sure, but you know here, here's the thing, regardless of how they end up getting broken up and what we do yeah the, the idea of admitting them to the union, at least as territories yeah yeah, you know, it could be governed theoretically like guam well territory.
Speaker 2That's just an example, right? Yeah, you don't even need congress for that I don't know about that, oh yeah, yeah, that's just just as long as we don't need money to buy them, we could do it without Congress.
Speaker 1Well, we'll see.
Speaker 2Yeah. You know, it's not a treaty, it's not a purchase.
Speaker 1I don't know. I don't know Because the, but because they would be leaving and they would be sovereign nations, they would have to vote to become a US territory for sure.
Speaker 2Right, well, that's on their side, not on our side. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1But I don't know the acceptance of that because the last, the only truly sovereign nation to join the United States was Texas.
Speaker 2Right right.
Speaker 1And we did not come in as a territory.
Speaker 2We, the United States, was Texas Right and we did not come in as a territory, we went straight to statehood. Yeah Well, I think we could help them. I don't see why we shouldn't help them. No Well.
Speaker 1I'm down the Canadian system. Bomb Canada, mark Carney, as soon as we bomb.
Speaker 2Canada make them an actual enemy of the state, then we can legally seize any of their territory without having any kind of referendum.
Speaker 1Yeah, mark Carney is, I think, going to preside over the downfall of Canada. Wouldn't that be cool If you're looking like that? Yep, you know well, you know. I've said for a long time it's a shame that Trump did get elected in 2016. Unless he pulls all this off, because I truly believe texas would have gone through the roof under hillary clinton. It would have been the same thing.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's true yeah, I, and I think when, when polyev did not get elected in canada, it's the same sort of backlash. It's like what fuck? We do not want more of this shit.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, he was also a little too what's the word? Like he thought it was a done deal Right, probably. Yeah, yeah, he thought he was.
Speaker 1But here's the interesting thing Like Trump in 2016, after the 2016 election, he provided a relief valve Right, Because things did change. Things did get better. There was a change there. The problem for Canada is they didn't get their relief valve. Now all that pressure that's been built up under Trudeau of hating these policies and this shit, and then you've got Carney coming in and doubling down on it that's when people snap, yeah, and while Canada has got horrible gun control laws.
Speaker 2Canada still has a lot of guns not that many, though. There's a recent video that went through like what every country has for guns. You know who? The obviously us is number one in guns. Do you know who number? Two is russia so so this is guns per capita, not total guns. What Somalia? Oh yeah.
Speaker 1Sure.
Speaker 2Yeah, and then I can't remember who was third, fourth, but it was like it wasn't Switzerland, but it was one of those European countries and you know if the statistics were being honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Mexico would have been up. Mexico is pretty high. Yeah. I think Mexico is like fifth or sixth yeah.
Speaker 1And actually for a Mexican citizen, owning a gun is actually really easy. Yeah, you can't have it outside your home.
Speaker 2Right, right, and you can't have an assault rifle.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, you can. You can have all sorts of stuff in Mexico.
Speaker 2No, you can't. There's a limit on magazine capacity.
Speaker 1Okay, well, whatever, but I did look at the Mexican gun laws.
Speaker 2There's also, I believe, a maximum caliber, for I don't think you can have a .45 caliber gun. Pistol-wise there's a maximum caliber, not a rifle. But Canada, I think, was around 30th or so place. They were real close to Russia.
Speaker 1They were both fairly close to each other, and Russia is not higher.
Speaker 2Well, but remember, they had complete restriction on firearms. 20 years ago, yeah. So it takes a while, like I remember when my cousin he, he got a gun as soon as they were legal and it was like a world war ii german pistol, you know because it's all you could get oh man, I saw so just fyi, aim surplus.
Speaker 1If we're gonna talk guns surplus, I was so tempted for what. They had a 19.
Speaker 2They had some surplus lugers in oh, really okay in 7.62, whatever parabellum huh kurtz yeah, well, parabellum 60 curls no, I don't think they were parabellum, I think they were kurtz no, this is it said parabellum it 7.62 curls.
Speaker 1I don't think they were Parabellum.
Speaker 2I think they were Kurtz. No, it said Parabellum, it did Okay. Well then it's normal 9mm. Yeah, no.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's not a normal 9mm, our standard 9mm is 9mm Parabellum.
Speaker 1Parabellum and 7.62 Parabellum are two different rounds.
Speaker 2Oh, 7.62. I thought you said 9mm Parabellum. Okay, sorry, anyway, sorry, sorry, sorry.
Speaker 1Yeah so, but anyway they were 1929 or something like early issue. Anyway, they had them for, like I want to say it was 1500. That sounds about right. I was very, very tempted. I have always loved the action of that gun.
Speaker 2It is just the the thing on the bottom, yeah well, and now in the top breach, like that yeah, the. With a gun, you pull it back and it folds. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a. It's an interesting gun. It's uh, now, is that the one they were used to call broom handle, or is it a different one?
Speaker 1No, the Luger is the German service sidearm.
Speaker 2I know, I know, but it's got like a round wooden grip.
Speaker 1Right, but a broom handle is a different gun.
Speaker 2Okay, anyway. Yeah, it's a neat gun. I agree it's. I think you could probably get a knockoff pretty cheap, but obviously the original one's gonna cost you yeah, yeah, oh, drum magazine, yep.
Canadian Provinces Threatening Secession
Speaker 1Well, anyway, also, they're going to start Palmetto State's building out some new Mini-14s. I saw that. Yeah, that's pretty interesting.
Speaker 2You know what? I wouldn't mind. I've always kind of had an eye out for a Mini-14 stainless, you know, like something that's not gonna rust.
Speaker 1yeah well, I bet you palmetto will end up making one I.
Speaker 2I think they might, because that used to be a thing I remember, like back in the 90s. That was a thing that ruger used to make, and I wouldn't be surprised if palmetto makes them as well. I don't think they were ever very popular because people don't want to. It's not an expensive gun and so paying extra money to get a stainless version of a not very expensive gun, I don't think a whole lot of people did that. Hmm.
Speaker 1Well, I don't know, man Like I like my AR-10. I like it a lot.
Speaker 2I'll tell you what I'm looking forward to not my. Ar-10, my M1A what I'm looking forward to in Battlefield is unlocking the P90. Good luck with that.
Speaker 1Gene quit sending me Luger porn is unlocking the P90. Good luck with that.
Speaker 3Gene quit sending me Luger porn You're going to make me buy a fucking Luger I know right, Luger porn has only guns in it and nothing else folks.
Speaker 2Uh-huh, uh-huh. Yeah, look at the way that's bent right there, isn't?
Speaker 1that just so sexy it. It is kind of like a woman in proper doggy style, isn't it? You can tell that we've switched to the late night edition of the podcast.
Speaker 2Yeah, all right, exactly oh all right, gene, we'll talk to you next week, man all right, sounds good man.
