183 A Tesla Flying Car Moment Plus The Real Cost Of AI And Linux
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A Linux install should be boring. Ours turns into a full-on troubleshooting spiral: USB sticks, flashing tools, Mint editions, and the one thing everyone skips until it’s too late, verifying the ISO hash. That setup mess is the perfect launchpad for the real project we’re chasing: a practical, cross-platform app that monitors AI subscription usage across services like Claude and Grok so we can see tokens and limits in real time without living in a dozen browser tabs.
From there, we dig into the economics of AI. Local AI hardware costs keep climbing while cloud AI gets faster and more capable, and the pricing math isn’t as straightforward as “API tokens times usage.” We talk through why fixed monthly plans can deliver outsized value for most users, when local models still make sense for privacy or sensitive data, and how building with Rust helps keep a multi-platform tool fast, portable, and sane to maintain.
Then we get distracted in the best possible way: a Tesla Roadster demo that looks like it belongs in a movie. We react live, question what’s real, and tease apart the difference between an amazing tech demonstration and something you can actually live with day to day. We also hit a grab bag of headlines and internet mechanics, including anti-bot roadblocks, tech hiring incentives, and what happens when AI “agents” start working like a small team instead of a single chatbot.
If you like candid builder talk, real-world AI workflows, and tech skepticism with receipts, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave us a review with your hottest take on cloud AI vs local AI.

Linux USB Installer Meltdown
SPEAKER_02Well, howdy Ben. How are you today? Oh, Gene, I'm back in Texas. Well, that's good. Linux sucks. I didn't get back home. What do you mean? I didn't get back home until 10 30 last night. Anyway, what you just because you can't write to a USB, you know, and you've got your own problems. I mean, that's you're not even in Linux, you're in Windows.
SPEAKER_05Uh yes, because I'm trying to create the stupid Linux ISO to install. It's not working. I'm using their installer with their ISO, and oh, something went wrong. Nice generic fucking message, too. Awesome.
SPEAKER_02Try a different flash drive. A bit there's something wrong with that flash drive.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it's the one off their website that you told me that I should go get.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. The actual physical drive you're using that you're trying to write it to.
SPEAKER_05You mean the flash oh, the flash? Yeah, I tried two of them.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And you download you. Did you verify the ISO? Did you check the hash?
SPEAKER_05No, I didn't check the fucking hash. I downloaded it.
SPEAKER_02Right, but you need to check the hash to make sure that it wasn't corrupted.
SPEAKER_05I don't need to check the hash. I downloaded.
SPEAKER_02Oh god. You shouldn't use Linux, dude.
SPEAKER_03Well, I asked you earlier.
SPEAKER_00You should have said that.
SPEAKER_02If you if you if you can't get it, the if you can't flash the installer, then shit don't work.
SPEAKER_05Clearly, somebody doesn't want to write software.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_05Can't trust these people. I'm gonna go back to what I know works for sure, Red Hat.
SPEAKER_02Oh no. Don't I mean you can do Fedora, but I wouldn't pay for Red Hat. But you know, Fedora I what I like about Mint is A, it's inventory-based. It does work. I've run it on my laptop all the time. It's the drivers just work flawlessly. You don't have uh the cutting edge features of Fedora, but you have more stability than Fedora. So, you know, it's all a trade-off. I used to love Seuss. Like I used to run open Seuss all the time.
SPEAKER_05I do like I ran I ran Fedora until I switched to Ubuntu.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, so Mint is Ubuntu based, but it's better, if you ask me.
SPEAKER_05So you got a name of an installer? Or a disk writer, I should try.
SPEAKER_02Etra's fine, what you're using.
SPEAKER_05It's not fucking working.
SPEAKER_02It's I'm telling you, you're doing something wrong. Redownload the ISO. Make sure that something's like.
SPEAKER_05I did. I got it twice. Plus, you don't even have to download it in the Etro, you could just give it a URL. Yeah, don't do that. Same error. Download the file. Same error. I've downloaded two different versions of it. I mean, same version from two different places. I tried two different USB sticks. Try a different USB port. I tried two different computers to put it on there. Same error. Their software is busted.
SPEAKER_02Is the flash drive big enough? It's 128 gigs.
SPEAKER_05How big is Linux?
SPEAKER_02Like eight.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Which, all right, which which version of Mint are you downloading?
SPEAKER_05The one that comes up when I click download. Well, there's multiple versions of Mint. The top one.
SPEAKER_02Cinnamon?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_02I'm asking which one?
SPEAKER_05Cinnamon.
SPEAKER_02Cinnamon. Yeah, yeah. I I prefer X Face and Matte, Mate. I use the Mate edition.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02But you know, whatever. It's just the GUI that you're choosing from there.
SPEAKER_05Yep. What's Rufus?
SPEAKER_02Rufus is another writing tool.
SPEAKER_05Did I try that one?
SPEAKER_02Sure. Download. You weren't joking that I was gonna have to be your fucking tech support.
SPEAKER_05No, of course not.
unknownGod damn it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you you agreed to it right there. I have it in writing. Anyway.
Airport Ground Stop And Travel Fallout
SPEAKER_05So while we're waiting, we'll start the podcast here. So been an interesting week.
SPEAKER_02You've been traveling a lot. Dude, Iah had a like seven-hour ground stop Tuesday. Like right after I took off. Yeah, it caused reverberations all the way to Wednesday when I was flying back. My my flight was delayed over an hour just because of they were catching back up. Wow. Can you imagine being in an international flight heading to IAH, and you know, you've been in the air for however many hours, and then they say, Nope, can't land here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's crazy, man. So what was the what was the rationale?
SPEAKER_02Fiber cut between some radio tower and the control tower.
SPEAKER_05So they just couldn't flash people.
SPEAKER_02Correct. And the FAA called the ground stop for like seven hours.
SPEAKER_05Wow. Okay. Well, I guess that's a legitimate excuse, huh?
SPEAKER_02I guess.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Alright, I'm gonna test out this Rufus
Raid Talk And Political Guesswork
SPEAKER_05thing while we're talking here.
SPEAKER_02So Ilian Omar got raided.
SPEAKER_05Yes, which is long overdue as far as I'm concerned. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Very happy. Very, very happy.
SPEAKER_05Now the question is, did they find anything worthwhile on there?
SPEAKER_02They had to have already known what they were gonna find. Otherwise, you don't do that. Like you're not gonna you're not gonna raid a sitting congresswoman's house without knowing exactly what you're gonna get.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. That is true.
SPEAKER_02So why'd you have music playing when we started this?
SPEAKER_05I always have music playing when I'm right, but usually I can't hear your stuff. Well, I'm on the PC
Rust App For AI Token Tracking
SPEAKER_05right now. I'm not on the Mac.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So what are you installing Linux on?
SPEAKER_05What am I installing Linux on? A PC?
SPEAKER_02For what? What purpose?
SPEAKER_05To be able to test compiled Linux software.
SPEAKER_02What are you testing?
SPEAKER_05The software I'm writing.
SPEAKER_02Which is Jesus Christ, dude. Come on. Which is what?
SPEAKER_05Oh, you want me to talk about software? Sorry, I'm not paying attention. Yeah, so last I don't know, five, six days I've been working on uh building this this little tool that lets me monitor multiple cloud-based AI plans that I have and shows me in real time like how much is used, how much is remaining. So I know at a glance on how much time I have or how much how many tokens I have, more like.
SPEAKER_00Cool.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's kinda it's first and foremost, it's a another good piece of software. So it's an educational project for me, but it's also a useful thing because it's something that I know talking to Darren that that you know he just keeps the windows open and glances at them. Um there's like there should be a cleaner, nicer, faster way of doing that. So the project started off with me asking AI and how do I do this? And the answer was, well, there are no APIs to do that, so it's not doable.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05And of course, right now I'm in the process of building my Mac version of it. The PC version is already working. It's talking to both Claude and Grok using creative methods that work. And I'm my plan for this thing is to have versions running on everything. So I can have it on Mac, PC, Linux, iPhone.
SPEAKER_02And then why iPhone?
SPEAKER_05Because I have an iPhone.
SPEAKER_02Right, but why why do you want it on there? Because I may want to run it from one PC and have it send you alerts.
SPEAKER_05I because I may want to check on it from iPad or an iPhone or something. It's why would I not build an iPhone version? I don't know. So it's a it's been fun. It's been a very fun learning experience. I've been trying to compete to see who can fall asleep later with the AI and it keeps winning. Although I did get it to fall asleep eventually, so I was happy about that.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05So you know what falling asleep for the AI is? What? Taking a nap. It is when it fills up the maximum possible capacity of its buffer. It's context window. Okay. And when the context window is completely full, it runs a process to compress, which basically reads the entirety of the context, which is about 17,000 lines or so, and then summarizes it so it takes up less space. And that process takes about two minutes on Claude. So that's the nap that it takes.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05So I take slightly longer naps. But I I've been pretty much up since Friday. Except for some naps.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you've been texting me at like any time. It's like, you mean good morning?
SPEAKER_05Hey, it's seven seven a.m. time for a nap. Exactly. But it's been enjoyable. I mean, there's there's a lot of deja vu here because you know, I started life as a developer way back in the 80s, and I'm I'm seeing visions of a much younger self doing the exact same shit. On obviously, well, actually the same shit this this point. I was doing it on a Mac then, I'm doing it on Mac now. But it's obviously very different now than it was in some ways, but in other ways it's very similar. The OCDs there, the let's just add one more feature or let's test one more test before you're going off and taking a nap is good. I think so far this week I've put in 60 68 or 69 hours in Claude.
SPEAKER_02So you know, since how much are you spending on tokens, dude?
SPEAKER_05I'm returning an expensive card that doesn't work. So there's money aplenty. The important thing is getting the software out.
SPEAKER_02What's the software gonna do?
SPEAKER_05I told you what it does. It monitors how much how many tokens I have in AI.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and what are you gonna do with that? Uh are you gonna sell the software?
SPEAKER_05Oh no, no, no. I'm releasing it under what is it, GPT 3.0.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_05In fact, I'm spending money so I can release it as registered software so there's no prompts.
SPEAKER_02Interesting. Seems like a waste of money.
SPEAKER_05Well, it's knowledge, Ben. It's uh you should try it sometime.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I I I have knowledge. I'm good.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh. No, I'm enjoying it. I I think it's been fun. It's you know, obviously very much self-imposed, but also it it is a I think it's easier to do stuff without sleeping for yourself than for other people.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05So I my body's tired, but I feel like I'm doing fun activities.
SPEAKER_02Cool.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that's that's kind of your goal for this project. Like what's the ultimate idea? So the first once I know how to do this, now I'm gonna go do this.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well, I mean, the the better I understand how to best utilize the AI, the faster I should start working. That's one thing. The other thing is it's it's getting me back into looking at code, which is also good because I really haven't been doing that for a long time. So the last app I did was all in C sharp. This one is I'm actually doing in Rust because I knew I wanted it to be multi-platform.
SPEAKER_02So Rust's pretty efficient anyway.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, yeah. Rust, I I and I've I really like Rust because it's it's the closest to what I used to write back in the day 30 years ago, which was Pascal. Rust is a very similar syntax.
SPEAKER_02Hey Gene. I gotta go check downstairs. You need to pause the recording map. Oh, yeah. Kick the breaker power.
SPEAKER_05So you your power went out, Ben? What happened?
SPEAKER_02No, kick the breaker.
SPEAKER_05Oh, breaker went out. Okay. Well, that's better than power going out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, I I should have known it was just the breaker when my computer didn't start beeping at me. Because my you know, my computer's on a separate circuit that I ran. Oh, okay. Uh so I don't know what kicked it, but something did.
SPEAKER_05Gotcha.
SPEAKER_02I'll troubleshoot later.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you were asking about the the goal. So the goal, aside from the learning stuff, is well, that's weird. What the hell's going on here? Alright. Roof is just aired out. What is going on?
SPEAKER_02I guess I'll wait till we're done with the podcast. What? Download Monte.
SPEAKER_05Monte?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the bottom one on mint. Mate, Monte, whatever you however you want to fucking say it.
SPEAKER_05Oh well, it it the roof is well, okay. Yeah, I'll deal with it later, dude. I I'm sorry to fucking around with it.
SPEAKER_02The other thing you could do is try Omarchi if you wanted an AI first Linux install.
SPEAKER_05I'll deal with it later.
SPEAKER_02Omarchi's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I I may uh one thing I haven't tried, which I don't understand why it would make a difference, but I could just try copying it onto the USB stick from a Mac instead of from PC. Okay. I don't think that should make a difference because I tried two different PCs. But if there's something that prevents that from happening, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Is there anything on the USB stick?
SPEAKER_05Well, there was, not anymore. Okay.
Flash Drives Cost More Than Before
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Speaking of USB sticks, quite a price increase in one year. You're threatening to vote for Kamala. At this point, I'm I'm kind of feeling the inflation a lot. So I uh I got a USB stick like 13 months ago. And it was it was just a one-terabyte USB, 68 bucks on Amazon. You know, nothing special. But it was a Toshiba, so it's at least a well-known brand. Looked up that same exact thing now because I was double checking when I bought it, and that same exact stick, same model, same everything, is current currently going for 179. This is this is not good, man.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, you're part of the problem with all your AI used dude. I'm part of the problem.
SPEAKER_05Uh, it's uh it we're where we shouldn't be seeing technology get more expensive in general ever. So that that that's a trend my entire life has been going in only one direction. You can always count that the same shit that you could buy today, you could buy tomorrow for cheaper. But that's not the case right now, obviously. But then the second part of it, which is insane, isn't just that it's going in the wrong direction. We've had issues in the past where you know a Japanese memory factory had an earthquake damage or something, and so they had to shut it down, and it does raise prices, but those prices go up for three to nine months, and they go up by you know 30, 40, then drop back down, and funky dory. This is unprecedented. A year later, over a year later, and the prices are at 140% for a product that hadn't changed, hadn't improved. In fact, if you buy it today, you may be getting it from a batch that was manufactured a year ago. So it's that price is based purely on supply and demand. And I think it's high time we get some socialism going here because this is bullshit.
SPEAKER_02I I I can't get behind that.
SPEAKER_05We need to have maximum government-controlled prices on memory, and I don't know of anybody better than the AOC to do that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, Jesus Christ. Well, luckily she's not running yet.
SPEAKER_05Well, we're we're gonna get her to run. We got two years. Because this is this ain't right. I don't care about the housing market or any of that crap.
SPEAKER_02I forget which memory company, but their profits, they're like nine, they're making like 90% profit margin.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like net profit margin is 90%.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. Yeah. Was it micro something? Micron.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it was micron. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But but that's but's also partly driven by the fact that they've pre-sold two years worth of memory. Which those contracts which is gonna be a problem when those contracts can't be executed due to the the bankruptcies of the companies they were made with.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I can say somebody's gonna get a lot of cheap hardware in a little bit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. And and the problem is, unfortunately, with like as much as we can agree and predict that a crash is coming, we can also pretty much predict that the people are gonna make the money off of this isn't gonna be the regular you know, Joe Schmo like us. It's it's going to be the Amazons of the world that will just swoop in and buy all that inventory and then put it up for sale for 10% less than it is right now, not half the price. Like, there's no way in hell that Amazon and really any major retailer, but in particular Amazon, is going to not dip their beak for a taste for a little Vig on the action. They're they're gonna want to very slowly lower prices and not drastically as soon as news of something comes out. So, you know, it it I think there will be quite a bit of like right now, people are pissed off at data centers coming into their neighborhoods that just wait till there's a crash.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, to the working class.
SPEAKER_05But you know, I mean, uh people are they don't want to lose their water, Ben. What are you saying? They're gonna lose their water. That's not what's happening. But they won't have anything to drink. And the data centers are gonna like hire all the illegals anyway.
Debate Clips And X Community Notes
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Did you listen to the debate that yes, that Brandon did? Yeah, yeah, Brandon had with the the balloon, hot air balloon. Jesus Christ, dude. How how much do you think she weighs? She weighs more than I do, I'll tell you that. She and she's probably shorter than you. She oh guaranteed. She is like, because Brandon's basically an inch taller than me. She is literally like a hot air balloon.
SPEAKER_02Oh, she's got to be over 300 pounds.
SPEAKER_05She's over four, I think. There, I don't want to talk about you know rating people's capacity for intellectual work by their physical abilities, but oh, but she's dumb as hell, too. In this place, yeah, or in this case rather, everything that came out of her mouth was a disjointed run on sentence that just has liberal. Talking points. You know, she just had to repeat every sentence had to contain working class children.
SPEAKER_01I'm a mother, I care.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm a mother of four. Oh, that's a great qualification for a politician. Get back the fuck in the kitchen and stay there. Mother of four. Yeah. And I'd like to like how many of her children did she eat?
SPEAKER_02Right. Did you see what her campaign put out? It's in our show notes, but on X, she posted a picture of Brandon dabbing his forehead. And it turns out it's a lot harder to defend your disgusting post when about women and children, veterans, seniors, but without a YouTube edit button, aka guy. But it was actually taken from before. It's a powdered towel that he's putting. He's literally powdering his forehead so he doesn't end up with shine. Right.
SPEAKER_05He does get some shine going.
SPEAKER_02Well, anyway, the but they she got community noted for it.
SPEAKER_05So that's always the best. That's that's the best way to put your foot in your mouth to get a community note going. That that works uh quite well. In fact, there was one example of an anti-community note which was hilarious. So there was a post on X about this place in Texas that was it's like the cafe coffee house or something, or kaffia coffee. Like an Arab coffee place or whatever. And they had a promo of wear your kaffia on uh October 10th and get a free coffee. You know, commemorating all the Jews getting killed. And and so that was pointed out on X and got uh went kind of viral. And then a community note popped up saying, no, no, this is this isn't correct. You know, that this is a mistake. They did this last year, not this year. They're not doing it this year. And it's like, okay, subtle difference. They they decided to stick a community note in to say, no, no, there's something we did before, but we're not doing it this year. And then the community note disappeared, and another note popped up saying, confirmed they did it this year. So they obviously got some of their local Islamists to go and put in for a community note and lie, and then somebody else got some facts and destroyed that community note. So you got these full-on battles going on on X. But yeah, it's that I don't know, I guess technically a debate. I wouldn't really call that what happened a debate per se.
SPEAKER_02But I think Brandon spanked her, but you were saying you thought he was nervous.
SPEAKER_05But he looked very nervous. I will say that it's the first time I've seen Brandon, you know, the AK guy, looking nervous in front of a camera. Because, you know, obviously he had not just a great set of hair on his head, but also the facts on his side. Yeah, but but he still looked nervous. And the other thing that I thought was, I guess, predictable, but definitely noticed it, is the fact that you had Brandon, you had the his liberal opposing opposition there, and you had two news anchor types that were one from San Antonio, one from El Paso. Yeah, one from San Antonio. Now, all four of these had extremely Hispanic names. Yes. So that's that's the problem for me as a white guy. Like, how would how do we desegregate that district so it's not just all Latinos?
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, you're not going to. It's the largest border district in Texas. Right, right. Well, in the nation, it's the same thing.
SPEAKER_05I think we need to set up a program to to like ship some non-Latinos into the district. Okay. Good luck. I think Minnesota's got a lot of Somalis that they're willing to ship over. Just uh, you know, gentrify it a little bit. Oh, don't don't do that.
SPEAKER_02You've already seen what's happened in Michigan. We don't need that in Texas.
SPEAKER_05Michigan is so fucked. No, we already have it in Texas. It's not a question of need, it's a question of like it's already here. Right.
SPEAKER_02Well, but it's in Dallas.
SPEAKER_05But it's in Dallas. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, I think Brandon did fine. I didn't really see anything that where he really stumbled. He was a little repetitive, but they're all very repetitive. It was also interesting that he did have some non-historically Republican talking points there. He was, you know, talking about the not putting a fence around the uh big bend. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Which I guess is a big topic for locals down there, which I don't know what the big deal is. Also talked what else? There's a couple things that were very kind of crossing the line kind of things. Yeah, I don't know. I can't think of them right now. But the other surprise for me is how little this chick went after Brandon for guns.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's a pretty pro-gun district.
SPEAKER_05She mentioned it a couple times, but I fully expected to be hearing like we need to ban all guns in this district, kind of thing. Didn't hear that. So yeah, I think you might be right. It may, it's probably like a district where that wouldn't fly too well. They they want their gun access. Also, didn't know that Brandon was a fifth generation Mexican American. What do you mean? I mean, he said his family has been there for five generations.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but five in the U.S., yes.
SPEAKER_05No, no, no. No. No, he said here in Texas.
SPEAKER_02He's not from Texas, though. He's from South Carolina.
SPEAKER_05I don't know, man. I I thought he went to school in South Carolina. Was he born in South Carolina?
SPEAKER_02I think he was. I think his dad was military.
SPEAKER_05His dad was what?
SPEAKER_02Military.
SPEAKER_05Well, but they yeah, they probably moved. But he said, yeah, I'm fifth generation, you know, here in this. I don't think he said this district, but he did say Texas. Because he wasn't talking about being Latino, he was talking about being a Texan. Yeah, he was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Oh, he was. Okay. So he so he lied. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if his family wasn't from Texas, though.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, maybe it's a part of his family that that wasn't moving around. So but you know, to be fair, there's plenty of Texans that came from North Carolina. And Kentucky.
SPEAKER_02Well, way back when, sure.
SPEAKER_05What?
SPEAKER_02Way back when, sure.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. I'm talking about the Alamo. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So there is a crock it. So you can all go to hell and I will go to Texas.
SPEAKER_05That's right. So, which kind of begs the question of like, were they trying to get away from their families when they went to Texas and in uh Kentucky and uh North Carolina? But anyway. So yeah, it was way interesting to watch. It's obviously a very low viewership event. I think Brandon probably dragged the most viewers that you've ever had for something like that. He also got accused of being a multimillionaire, which was funny. Why is that funny? Well, it's funny because you know, I mean, if you're somebody that's watched them on YouTube, you know exactly how much money the guy makes. It's like, yeah, of course he's a multimillionaire. But I guess for some people that don't know what YouTube can bring, like they would be thinking, well, if he's a you know a gun dealer, well, how much could they make? Well, YouTubers make pretty good money. At least big YouTubers like him. Although probably not anymore. Like that that was a thing a lot more so a decade ago.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so his family both his both of his parents came from military backgrounds.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But his family, apparently, his parents were Texans. He moved here, apparently going way back, at least according to his campaign website. But I can't. Right.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's what he was that's what he was talking about there. Yeah. Which incidentally, I've never really, you know, I it's enough people do it. I guess it's not really unusual when you see it happen, but it having people talking and being proud of something they had zero investment in, it just seems weird to me. Like what, you know, where your grandpa chose to move to has zero to do with you, it's the other way around. He can say, you know, I've created three generations of people that are Texans now. Like, that's a real thing. But saying that, hey, I'm a third generation Texas here, well, yeah, you had nothing to do with the two previous generations. It's it was outside of any accomplishments of yours. Well, choice of your parents.
SPEAKER_02I'm only I'm only a third generation Texan. You know, before that, my family was Louisiana, you know. Yeah. Louisiana going back to before my great-grandfather moved to Texas, but you know, we were up in the Alexandria area of Louisiana going back to pre-American Revolution.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. And uh, you know, my my buddy that's in Virginia, that's a very proud Virginian dude. He, same kind of deal. He's like, Yeah, 16th generation Virginian. You know, we were here before the United States, we'll be here after. That kind of attitude.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. He if he's conservative at all, he ought to think about leaving Virginia.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's that's literally what I've been telling him. It's like, you ready to move on? You're ready to leave the homestead. But he he lived in Texas for a while too when he was younger in the military. In I think he was in the base in San Antonio there.
SPEAKER_02So Calarico. Yeah, what about him? Calafrico, as Trump would call him.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Where do you think he was for 14 days?
SPEAKER_05Well, probably Beijing is my guess.
SPEAKER_02But oh come on, he was in Ohio at a mental institution.
SPEAKER_05I I saw that story. I think that's too convenient.
SPEAKER_00It would be hilarious.
SPEAKER_05I think they would use a story about that to cover the fact that he was actually in China. Getting programmed to be the Manchurian candidate. He's not gonna win, dude. Well, according to all the newspapers, he is.
SPEAKER_02I don't believe it.
SPEAKER_05I mean, they're saying 56% Telurico is the prediction.
SPEAKER_02I don't believe it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah, I I mean I'd like to think that's not gonna happen, but we know how all the cities vote in Texas. From San Antonio, up the line, up 35 to Dallas, Fort Worth, and then back down to Houston. They all vote gay. That's why I think he's got a chance.
SPEAKER_02Well, he's certainly into that.
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah, I mean, he's also into saying that, you know, Jesus was gay, so or sorry, not gay. Non, he was a trans uh transvestite or transsexual.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and also saying that a trans child is a beautiful thing.
SPEAKER_05The most beautiful thing, because it's most like God who's also trans. So I don't know what they call that religion, it rhymes with Christianity, but I'm pretty sure that's not how you pronounce it.
SPEAKER_02I I don't know of a Christian pastor that agrees with him, and the fact that he went to seminary is irrelevant and it's insane.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I don't I don't understand this. This is whenever I run into Christians that are in the kumbaya big club kind of Christianity, I can't help but to start asking him questions that they're gonna have a hard time with. Because they're as far as I'm concerned, you you you can't, it's mutually exclusive. Like you can't be a Christian and support satanic practices like abortion and not just, you know, you do your thing, I do my thing, kind of tolerance, but like actively running around with gay pride flags and trans shit. Like quit calling it Christianity at that point. It's it's a perversion. And you know, the at least the Catholics don't don't do public, you know, they're not public about it, they just like little boys, but but some of these other lefty Christians are very public about it.
SPEAKER_02Well, they're they're Calorico is pushing it to you saw his interview, right?
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, five minutes. Talking about abortion and oh, the Bible has no explicit thing on abortion. Thou shalt not murder. You know, hey, maybe I don't know, man. I I I just if if Talarico wins, all hope is lost.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah, it's I certainly hope he doesn't pull it off, but it it, you know, all the well, it's not just the newspapers, it's also what's that website where people are betting shit. Which one?
SPEAKER_02Call she? Yeah, no, the other one. I don't know which prediction market are you talking about.
SPEAKER_05They're so the big one. Call she's pretty big. I've never heard of Call Sheet. I'm thinking of Rud, what are they called? They're called Polymarket? Polymarket, that's the one. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so on Polymarket he's and Call she are the two big ones.
SPEAKER_05He's also winning. But I don't know, maybe that's probably like you know, wishful thinking and people have or whatever. So if it's if Polymarket's got him winning, that means that the bet for him winning is less payout than the bet of him losing, right?
SPEAKER_02I believe so.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think that's how that works.
SPEAKER_02Polymarket doesn't have anything on Ken Paxton.
SPEAKER_05Well, I saw I saw it on X, man. I don't know. Are you sure?
SPEAKER_02Okay. Winner here. Yeah, so I they do. When I search Ken Paxton, nothing comes up because apparently their search sucks. So it's showing that Calarico has a 63% to 39% for Ken Paxton.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Steve Hilton, uh, they're saying Steve Hilton is gonna lose 96 to 6, which is just who is Steve Hilton? He's running for California governor. Oh, California, okay.
SPEAKER_05I don't think that it's he's gonna lose 96%. I think it's 96% of the people think he's gonna lose.
SPEAKER_02Correct. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_05I didn't but he I it sounded like you were saying he's going to lose by 96%.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Because that's how California goes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it it's uh oh, we'll see. We'll see, I guess. It all depends on how many people show for voting day. And which by the way, are you doing early voting or are you gonna wait till the last day?
unknownI don't know.
Early Voting Arguments And Logistics
SPEAKER_02I'll early voting's now, isn't it? Is it now? I thought it was next week. Maybe it's next week. I'll I'll either do it day of or I hate early voting.
SPEAKER_05And it's I'm I'm planning on doing early this year convenient just to not have to stay in line at all. And I think the way they've got it working right now, and correct me if I'm wrong here, Ben, but I think you can literally just like show up to any voting place, and then they'll just know they'll be able to look you up, and then you can vote for your district, but you're not tied to actually voting inside of your district.
SPEAKER_02I don't think that's the case.
SPEAKER_05I think you should when I look up your polling. Well, I'll tell you, when I looked up my polling location, they gave me a list of like 20 places, some of which were in Cedar Park.
SPEAKER_02Weird. Because mine clearly shows two options for me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, in Austin, it's basically vote anywhere, you know, bring a dog on your behalf, you can vote. Uh, you could bring a piece of paper that says your neighbor is voting here through you.
SPEAKER_02We wonder why Austin goes blue. Yeah, I don't know. But it yeah, no, I I like or I early voting's very convenient, but from a principle standpoint, I can't fucking stand it.
SPEAKER_05I don't see what the big deal is. What's the problem with early voting?
SPEAKER_02Because we should have voting day, not voting months. What's the logic behind voting day? Because if you can't so you have one day to vote. Why? Like let it be done. Why?
SPEAKER_05There's no logical reason for it to be one day. Make it a national holiday and now you're just describing it. I said, what's the rationale for doing it in one day? There's no benefit.
SPEAKER_02Because if people are too lazy to do it, then they don't need to fucking vote. Same reason for mail in the ballot.
SPEAKER_05There's no reason to have to do it on one day.
SPEAKER_02Like there should be we can have voting month if we have no mail in ballot.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, voting should be in person, it should not be through or online, but it should not be through the mail for sure.
SPEAKER_02I was about to nail you to the wall about your previous comments about online voting.
SPEAKER_05I still have I'm an advocate of online because we can actually check who the person is online. Ish. No, you have them do the same thing that you know all the uh websites do now. You got to get a camera on and then stick your driver's license next to your face, and then have it take a picture of both at the same time. It's the same process they've been using in porn industry forever. I heard Christ.
SPEAKER_02Well, anyway, I just hope the predictions of a blue wave are oversold and not gonna be a big deal.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um Tesla announcement tonight here in a few minutes.
SPEAKER_05Oh, what are they oh the roadster, right? Mm-hmm.
Tesla Roadster Demo Breaks Our Brains
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so what's what have you heard? Anything I haven't really heard much.
SPEAKER_02Dude, look at the link I just posted and the ramp that they built. I want to know what the fuck Elon's about to do. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_05Okay, I'm sorry, but that looks dangerous as fuck. Yeah. That's from a video game, man.
SPEAKER_00That's gotta be from a video game. Uh-uh. Uh-uh. Elon posted a picture of it too. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_05What are they gonna do with this ramp? This so for people that don't know what the hell we're talking about, it's a very popular in video game type U-shaped ram, like a U letter sideways. So you come in driving flat like a normal car, and then you curve up, you go through a complete like letter C, and then it straightens back out where you're upside down, going in the opposite direction.
SPEAKER_02Somebody's gonna die tonight.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I mean, do you do you all not remember how their last test went when they threw a rock at the window?
SPEAKER_02Right, and twice?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oops. Oops. Yeah, that that's just that what the fuck are they thinking? I don't know. Or are they are they gonna make like a suspension that can land from that height? I doubt it.
SPEAKER_02Or are they going to just Launch the thing? But where?
SPEAKER_05I mean, they're it's not launching straight up, it's launching like in a U shape back in the direction it originally came from.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, but the there's supposedly the new roadster is gonna be zero to sixty in one second. Okay, that's really cool. Which is like 2.5 G.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, which is which would certainly hold it you know to that thing as long as it's turning, but there's a flat section at the end. Yes, and it doesn't continue. Like if it was a loop and it could completely loop where it did a full 360 and then kept going. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That'd be cool, but you know, other cars have done that. But this is plus, it doesn't look like there's anything in front of that area. Like that what wait, it's just gonna drive through this loop and then get thrown 200 feet in the air, then land upside down and crash. What's the point? I don't know. This is tonight? What time tonight?
SPEAKER_02It's on right now. Well, why aren't we watching it?
SPEAKER_05Tesla Roadster Premier special third rail live stream. Oh my god, it's it is on right now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Turn insane super electric cars.
SPEAKER_05Turn the music off. Yeah, that is nuts. So we'll have to keep keep that in the corner of the monitor here to see what happens while we're continuing on with the normal conversation.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they also gave all the press earplugs.
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_05I'm I'm very confused.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, man. But when you look at it, it's like the fuck.
SPEAKER_05That is that is fucked up. So yeah. Let me see. What else have we not talked about? Oh, we did we talk about the we we kind of talked. We so we started recording an episode on Monday, and it it went for only about 18 minutes, and then Ben fell asleep. So we stopped.
SPEAKER_02I had also been up since three.
SPEAKER_05That's his excuse for falling asleep. So well, and you're just you know such a well, no, I went I fell asleep ten minutes after we were done recording, but you know, I could have kept going. I these days I take sleep in in one-hour chunks. So anyway, I was gonna say we talked about a few of these things in that episode, but since no one heard it, might as well talk about them again. So more states break away from the NFA, like Florida, yep, and Alabama, and Mississippi, I believe, did as well. Which is good. So these are states that have reaffirmed the right of their citizens to not be harassed for doing nothing illegal.
SPEAKER_02Well, and what Mississippi, Florida, and Alabama have done is their attorney generals have come out and said you are in compliance with the NFA based off of the ATF's guidance without filling out a Form 4, even though their laws say that you should be in compliance.
SPEAKER_05And then I think I said at that point, well, you must hate that, Ben, because you don't believe that states ought to file the federal government.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't believe in I don't believe in the incorporation doctrine. No supremacy state. Okay. So the supremacy of the federal constitution is only in its enumerated powers. The Ninth and Tenth Amendment are very clear that any powers not exactly designated to the federal government are reserved by the people and the states. Like our founders were super clear that federal supremacy is extremely limited. Yet we have stupid shit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, which we we have an insane amount of federal laws, federal infrastructure, federal employees, all that crap, which is bad. I completely agree with. But my difference of opinion on this was that I believe that the rights enumerated in the Constitution, whether it's in the Bill of Rights or in the Constitution itself, those rights cannot be negated by the states. And you took the other view.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that no, because the the the federal constitution, as the founders understood it, was only to limit the federal government. Oh, I think Obama on is that the Constitution is a is a charter of negative liberties. It restricts what the government can do. It does not give the government power, it restricts what the government should do. And as such, one one of the things, again, Second Amendment is about Congress, right? First Amendment is about Congress shall make no law. The state's constitutions, like Texas has our version of the Bill of Rights in the state constitution. So if your state passes a law, you should be looking to your state constitution, not the federal constitution, for its remedy.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, and I get that. And I think my comment at the time was that then why have a country at all? Because if you will not ensure the rights of the citizens of the country, we are not a single country.
SPEAKER_02We're never meant to be. We are a conglomeration of the United States. It should be these United States and pre-Civil War, it was. We are states united. It's a capital S for the European model. State is its own country. No, it's before the European model ever existed.
SPEAKER_05Sure, but it's like the European model, is what I'm saying. I didn't say it was created. Oh, what the Europe has one, and you has a federal government as well.
SPEAKER_00Yes, but theirs is supposed ours is supposed to be weaker.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I'm sure that's the case right now. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not. But theirs isn't exactly light either. You know, they but their their extent to state control is they can penalize states for not doing what the European Union federal government wants them to do. Whereas ours will overrule them. So there's a difference right there for you. Sounds like I've got a dis sounds like you like Europe more. So my my take is that you have to have certain beliefs, certain agreed upon beliefs before you can form a country and before you can well, for as long as you exist as a country, there has to be something that is shared among all of the citizens of the country as the beliefs which represent that country. So you can disagree about a lot of stuff, but you have to agree at least about some things and and specifically the things that the people that created the country cared about the most. Because if you have disagreement about those things, maybe it's time for a revolution and you no longer have a country. At which point I think you said, Well, that's fine with me because Texas ought to be a country.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we should regain our proper position among the countries of the world.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. Well, and we've talked about this on one of the early episodes of the podcast.
SPEAKER_02I have two bumper stickers on my side.
SPEAKER_05Of course you do.
SPEAKER_02One says bravery, not obedience. The other says secede.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And I'm shocked you don't get stopped by the cops more often.
SPEAKER_00Why?
SPEAKER_05With bumper stickers like that. It it you're just screaming sovereign citizen. Oh no. I I'm no. And uh of course, you're obviously not because a sovereign citizen, by definition, is a citizen of the United States with an IQ below 75.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I am I am not a sovereign citizen type. By the way, did you see the Treasury Department put out a video with the new Trump coin? No. Not much. So Trump has a new one dollar coin, and there's yeah, yeah. And they're suggesting that you spend it at liberal coffee shops.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's awesome. That's hilarious. Yeah. Now, did they get rid of the penny yet?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, they pennies are no longer being used in the city. But they're still being in circulation.
SPEAKER_05They're not being are they still in circulation or are they slowly taking them out like collecting them?
SPEAKER_02My understanding is they're leaving them in circulation and letting going to just die an actual death. Because I I always currency, one of the things people need to understand is you have to print new currency because currency ends up destroyed, things happen, right? The money supply is not a fixed item.
SPEAKER_05And that's an interesting thing in itself. I remember when I was at the Federal Reserve, or not at the reserve, at the well yeah, it was at the Fed in Dallas. And they that building should be targeted for any reason.
SPEAKER_02And they were they have a countdown on the Tesla road. Yeah, yeah. I've got it.
SPEAKER_05I got it playing in the background here.
SPEAKER_0217, 16.
SPEAKER_05I think I'm two seconds behind you, so just shut up for a second. Yeah. 10. Yeah, I'm I'm still at 15 seconds. Shut up. Six. Five. That does not listen. What do you expect?
SPEAKER_02Oh, here we go. Oh, they're just showing up the video. Anyway, the launch the sucker. I want to see it go.
SPEAKER_05It's dark outside. How how do we have a I guess it's dark there too? That's true. Yeah. Anyway, so the machines that that check and shred the currency are these room-sized ginormous combine looking things, which are very cool, that process the looking at money. It's at the base of the ramp. Yeah, I'm I'm watching it. They're pressing or the the money as it's flying through the machine to determine if it's in sufficiently good enough quality to leave in circulation and send bank to the banks. Or if it's a holy shit. Yeah, be quiet. Or if it's a bill that has just seen too much wear and tear, and it's going to not be in good enough shape for circulation. And the ones that are shredded. Oh fuck. The ones that are dead. Dude, shut up for a sec. The the ones that are deemed not in good enough shape, these are. Okay, I'm confused at this point. I'm looking at the video. I'm very confused. Do they have a magnet on the bottom of this fucking thing?
SPEAKER_01The ramp. How is that? That's not possible.
SPEAKER_05That's a magnet. It's gotta be a magnet, right? There's not there's nothing else that can do this. So what we're looking at is a car that slowly drove up this sideways view.
SPEAKER_03Holy shit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. We really no, I didn't see that. It's I'm behind yet. It's not synchronized. Okay, now I'm seeing it going.
SPEAKER_00This is not uh what the f.
SPEAKER_05Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. That's fake. That's not real. Nope. Nope.
SPEAKER_01It literally just flipped and landed on jets, dude.
SPEAKER_05It's not a jet-powered car. I'm not buying that shit.
SPEAKER_00Okay, first of all.
SPEAKER_05They're saying flying cars are real. They're no. And uh if that actually happened the way we're seeing it on video, which could be fake. If it actually happened that way, you're buying that that that maneuver of about one and a half seconds consumed 100% of the thruster fuel.
SPEAKER_02Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER_05So could you do something like this? Sure. Will you be able to buy a car that this does this? No.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're saying they borrowed technology from space deck, of course. They're using the thruster power.
SPEAKER_05I mean, you could do that with thrusters, but the the amount of space and mass that the fuel takes up.
SPEAKER_02So it's literally using vacuum, it was using vacuum power to keep it stuck.
SPEAKER_05Really? What vacuum is gonna hold up a 4,000-pound car?
SPEAKER_02Apparently it did.
SPEAKER_05So they built a vacuum to the track?
SPEAKER_02Literally for down force. So what they're saying is it's for down force, for acceleration, and so on.
SPEAKER_05So you're saying the car vacuumed itself to this. That is impossible.
SPEAKER_02That this is what Elon is saying right now.
SPEAKER_05This car drove up slowly up that ramp without flipping. This is a and then this is a technology solution looking for a problem.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna be a badass sports car.
SPEAKER_05It's gonna be not available for another 10 years, is what it's gonna be if it has shit like this.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it looks cool.
SPEAKER_05You can't argue with the cool fact. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Starman's gonna make it. It's very Tesla truck-esque. It's very cyber truck-esque. But it does look better than the Cybertruck.
SPEAKER_05It does look better than the Cybertruck.
SPEAKER_02Gulling doors.
SPEAKER_05I don't know how comfortable this thing's gonna be. I I was in the original Tesla Roadster once. And I had to basically put it on me.
SPEAKER_02It literally has attitude control thrusters according to Elon.
SPEAKER_01How is this gonna be street legal?
SPEAKER_05It's not gonna be street legal, dude. This is a fun time event.
SPEAKER_02It's a hell of a technology demonstration what they just did. If that video is real and not fake, hold on.
SPEAKER_05It looked cool.
SPEAKER_02It looked very good, but but I will say the odds of Elon just trolling fucking everyone. Yes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we're gonna because they're not standing next to the car. Well, they're standing next to a car, but they're not standing next to the ramp. Right. So the ramp was a video they played back.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. They're they're about to show it off again.
SPEAKER_05I mean, if this if they do more demos throughout the day tomorrow, then I'll be impressed. If if this is a one-shot.
SPEAKER_02They're gonna have it jump, a Tesla semi and all the other Tesla model lineups.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Holy shit. You know, a flying car is not going to it just jumped over a Tesla semi and all the other Tesla model lineup. It's and did a flip, yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's it's a flip. It's a very controlled maneuver, yeah. But again, like you're gonna if this thing would be available, which I highly doubt, you're gonna have enough thruster fuel to do one of those.
SPEAKER_02I I don't know. They just showed the two uses of it, dude.
SPEAKER_05On two different cars doing it, yeah. Uh-uh, uh-uh, same car. No, it's not the same car.
SPEAKER_02I just don't know what the practical use of having that amount of.
SPEAKER_05This is shit that Elon wants on his car, is what the practical use is. Everybody else can go to hell. He doesn't he wants to be able to jump over cars in traffic.
SPEAKER_02Or avoid an accident.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, there you go. Yeah, I imagine like a whole bunch of these all trying to avoid the same accident at the same time.
SPEAKER_00Mid-air collisions.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, who's at fault when you have three cars colliding in mid-air?
SPEAKER_02When he adds this to the holy shit, it's it's building its own propellant on. When he decides to he's saying it's generating its own propellant on board.
SPEAKER_05How? Should I okay, should we just pause and so I can watch this thing? Yeah, I'm trying to I'm trying to talk and listen to you at the same time.
SPEAKER_01Holy shit, Jimmy. Uh yeah, we have what did we just fucking say?
SPEAKER_05We have to pause the recording, not because Ben's circuit breaker broke again, but because we were watching cars flying that shouldn't be.
SPEAKER_01And doing a fucking standing barrel roll.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's having enough suction downforce to hang upside down on a ramp.
SPEAKER_05It's extremely impressive and also totally useless.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you say that. Elon's talking about this thing going half the speed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he said that Mach 0.5 was the target speed for this car.
SPEAKER_00So have you put your pre-order?
SPEAKER_05No, I'm not putting a fucking pre- I made that mistake with the Tesla truck. I'm not doing this. This is this is cool video, cool tech. Something, frankly, that the Mythbusters could probably make right now as well. Not a car size, but you know, like made out of 3D printed material with very light weight, but you could do get it to do the same kind of thing. Thruster control is very advanced at this point, not just for SpaceX, but for a lot of companies. What is interesting here is that they're pairing it with a car, and if they truly are, and I didn't hear this a bit, so I'm relying on what you told me. If they truly are using compressed air, so you know, 80% nitrogen to do this, that is very impressive because the either they're compressing that nitrogen to basically liquid levels, or they have most of the cars made up of tanks. Tanks, yeah. And the fact that we're seeing a lot of white, what looks like white smoke, is an indicator that's an extremely high pressure. Because it's it's literally freezing the air around it when it comes out.
SPEAKER_02So dude, that was a hellaciously impressive news. That was very impressive. Jumping the Tesla lineup, like everything they did.
SPEAKER_05How much do you think Tesla stock goes up tomorrow?
SPEAKER_02Oh. It's gonna yes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so if someone hasn't seen this yet, by the time you listen to the podcast, do yourself a favor, go to YouTube, go to you know any channel that's got videos, and type in Tesla Flying Car or Tesla Roadster, and you should see the video. It is and watch it in the order. So if it's just short clips, I mean it's kind of cool, but the when you just think of it as a car before you know what it's gonna do, it is super impressive watching it like start climbing up a wall and then just stop halfway there where a normal car should be falling down, and then keep going and hanging literally upside down, which no fucking car should do. I mean it's it's literally like James Bond Lotus type tech. Except for real. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And it's a good looking.
SPEAKER_05It's pretty good looking. If they made the Cybertruck like this, I think a lot of more people would have liked it. Cyber truck is just way too angular.
SPEAKER_02I I rewound it and you can literally hear it sucking itself to the Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's the the the suction is pretty loud. But dude, can you imagine like every movie from now on is gonna have this thing in it?
SPEAKER_02Oh, Hollywood's gonna buy the first hundred.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02The next James Bond car will be a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_05I I would love to see Clark testing this thing, but they they're not doing the show anymore. No more.
SPEAKER_02Oh fuck that. I want Richard Richard to do it.
SPEAKER_05So you can crash it? Yeah, yeah. Let's let's Richard, we have a test for you. We're gonna test the car's crashability factor.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Here, go upside down. See the way.
SPEAKER_05Is there any way to reboot a freaking Android pad thing tablet?
SPEAKER_02Yes. How press and hold the button. Does nothing until the reboot menu comes up.
SPEAKER_05Okay, I got it. You have to hold the lower the down volume button and the power button.
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, that's a function.
SPEAKER_05Why do you think I was asking? Hello.
SPEAKER_02You didn't you didn't say reboot. You didn't say reset.
SPEAKER_05Literally said reset, but okay. Yeah, it seemed to have gotten stuck in a boot cycle where it was not finishing the boot. Stupid devices. I swear to God, everything should just be Max. Yeah, no. No shitty engineering devices. Who's heard of this Lenovo? Like, that's even a real company.
SPEAKER_02Dude, you know what? Before they were IBM, you mean sound. Yep. The ThinkPad was my Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Think pads were the computer to have if you were a nerd.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. I loved my ThinkPad.
SPEAKER_05Well, and you know, I mean, honestly, I'm bitching about it, but I still bought one, right? The reason I have a Lenovo tablet today is because I had a Lenovo ThinkPad 25 years ago.
SPEAKER_00They're cheap.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean, well, they're cheaper than Samsung for sure, but they're not that cheap. Okay, there we go. Now it's finally booted.
SPEAKER_02Did you see the meme this week of the woman? Can someone make my boyfriend look like he has money and it replaces her with a hype?
SPEAKER_05Oh no, that's that is awesome. I did not see that. That's hilarious.
SPEAKER_02I've seen it so many times. When I first saw it, I almost spit out my dream.
SPEAKER_05Well, uh, in not so funny news, did you see that Microsoft uh fired 6,000 people? Yeah. So Microsoft
Microsoft Layoffs And H-1B Pushback
SPEAKER_05got rid of 6,000 people and immediately afterwards hired 6,000 H1Bs. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which I'm surprised given what Trump has done to the H1B program on. Well, it's so the like they're having to go out of their way to do that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well, it's I mean, it's an indicator of a long, long-held problem that we've been living with here is that companies not just even for cost savings. I mean, there might still be a little bit of that. There's not nearly as much cost savings as there was 15, 20 years ago with H1Bs. But from an administration, from just basically having a surf instead of an employee, like companies prefer that. Some some oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, H1Bs are beholden. You can't, you know, they can't just go get a job somewhere.
SPEAKER_05Well, they they they can, but it's hard. They they can do that, but they have to basically get sponsorship from another business. You can and there are absolutely recruiters that specialize in H1Bs jumping from one company to another in the US. But they what they can't do is be randomly fired when they're not prepared for it because they pretty much immediately have to pack up and leave. And since most of them are bringing their families with them, that that's a bit of an issue. Now, luckily, we're no longer giving those families any kind of financial aid, which is good. But in response to this whole Microsoft thing, the Trump administration has explicitly removed Microsoft from the H 1B program. So they're basically saying, you know, the H1Bs you currently have, we're not gonna like kick them out, make them leave, but Microsoft can no longer apply for H1B hires. Uh, because it was also found that so we had a number of things. One is they got rid of roughly the same number of people that they hired, but also they had as part of the H1B process, you have to advertise for a U.S. employee prior to getting somebody from out of the country. What they found, Microsoft was basically publishing all these highly specialized technical jobs in like small towns in Kansas newspapers. So they were fulfilling the technical requirement without at all sticking to the intent of the requirement. And as a pro as a and now, of course, there's lawsuits immediately to say Trump can't do that. You you know, that's not up to him. This is a law that Congress made, not the executive, so he doesn't have any control over whether he can block or not block a company. And it's not a well, we'll we'll see what happens. We'll see which direction goes, but this is one bandwagon I've been on for a long time. I I've never been a fan of the abuse that's happening. I have no problem with the theory of H1Bs, which is if you are completely lacking an expert in the United States to hire, then you can go outside of the United States and bring somebody in temporarily rather than only looking at people that are in the United States already. And what H1B does is it effectively allows companies to not have to open up a branch office in a foreign country and then hire people that way, which of course any company can do as well. But it that I'm that's an expensive process.
SPEAKER_02I'm a I'm a fan of brain draining the rest of the world, but we need to have a minimum IQ standard to do so. Like if you have above 115 IQ, come on in. If you're below 115 IQ, stay the fuck out.
SPEAKER_05I I I think that's a little more liberal than I would go because the problem is not just with low IQ, the problem is like what we've seen with a lot of companies in the US, like Microsoft, Indian CEO, PepsiCo, Indian CEO. Um, a lot of these companies have, and if you want to get the full list, just go ask AI and it'll spit out very happily a list of about 80 companies that are well-known, large companies, and have CEOs that are from India. And the reason that's the case is because of something we talked about on the previous show as well, which is that most ethnic groups that come to the US have something that Americans do not have, and that is a preference for other people like them. This was definitely I observed this with Russians when they came to the US. Same kind of thing. One Russian guy gets hired in a company, then he's got a bunch of people that he ends up maybe, you know, becoming buddies with that are Russians that are all looking for jobs, and he's like, Yeah, I'm gonna try and get you in. And the buddy network starts growing to where you know he gets another guy in, helps him go through the interview, get gets him hired. Now there's two of them, and then that keeps growing, and there's four and eight and sixteen, and so on. And next thing you know, you've got a manager now who was not hired as a manager, he was hired as an individual contributor, became a manager, and somehow, miraculously, every person that he brings in happens to be from his ethnicity, but it's a minority ethnicity, so you can't really complain about it because all the regulations and all the HR rules are around preventing minorities from getting jobs, they're not made for well, what happens if nothing but minorities get hired? And so you end up with whole departments where like white people are a five percent minority in the department, and you know, every meeting smells like curry. And and look, I'm not even kidding here. That's literally a fake, a factual statement, Sir Gene. Yeah, and and you know, hence I'm unemployed, so I can say things like that. Unfortunately, Ben is employed, so he can't say he could just sit there and nod his head and agree with me. So it's a problem that we've had for a while in the US. We allow other nationalities to come in, get promoted, and ingrained into companies. And again, I'm not saying that the Indian CEO of Microsoft is doing a shitty job. He could be doing a great job. The issue here isn't with his ethnicity, the issue here is with the culture of that ethnicity having a cultural predisposition to hiring people just like themselves ahead of everybody else. It's not just that they don't just dislike white people. Believe me, they these Indian dudes, they hate blacks just as much as white people.
SPEAKER_02It's worse than that, though, because they also do the whole class system stuff.
SPEAKER_05Well, I don't mind that. I think that's actually not a bad idea. I mean, dude, as long as it's based around IQ, I have no problem with it. Okay, I do. You know, keep the goy out. Anyway, the the problem with all these folks is that there's no mechanism in place to backtrack on this. And and so you do end up effectively taking what our national institutions created decades ago, or even longer, that become very different when the majority employment is not made up of people that have a long tradition of American culture.
SPEAKER_02Well, and they bring their class system as well, which is a problem. Especially from the Indian side.
SPEAKER_05How's that a problem for you?
SPEAKER_02What do you mean?
SPEAKER_05It's not a problem.
SPEAKER_02It's not a problem for me, but it is a problem.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it's not a problem if everybody's from the upper caste.
SPEAKER_02But but that's not how they do it.
SPEAKER_05Well, it depends what job they're bringing them in for. You're not gonna have somebody from the upper cast doing menial work for Christ's sake.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I'm just saying that here. So Mr. Gunsgear just posted if anyone needs nine mil ammo, True Shot has Max Tech
Ammo Prices And Suppressor Shopping
SPEAKER_02124 grain.
SPEAKER_05Max Tech, isn't that from Cyberpunk?
SPEAKER_02It's ammo. M-A-X-X Tech. 124 grain, nine mil after taxes for 26 cents around.
SPEAKER_05Pretty good deal.
SPEAKER_02Free shipping.
SPEAKER_05I mean, beats the prices on computer memory.
SPEAKER_02I'm just debating if I need another thousand rounds. Yeah, of course you do. I don't know. I've I've probably got four or five thousand rounds.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, of course you do. You could buy a case of MaxTech nine millimeter for a three thousand round case. Yeah, there you go. That's what you need. You don't need a thousand button. You need three thousand.
SPEAKER_00Well, but this deal is for a thousand.
SPEAKER_05Well, but they they sell three thousand cases as well. I'm just looking at their website.
SPEAKER_02Not at this website. Which by the way, what grain nine mil do you shoot?
SPEAKER_05I prefer 147.
SPEAKER_02You want the subside bitches, huh? Why? I like the way it feels. I like the 124 plus P or NATOs.
SPEAKER_05You know, you don't go for the 115s?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no.
SPEAKER_05High speed ones.
SPEAKER_02Oh, but the I think the 124 NATO or the 124 plus P is just as fast as your standard 115 load with a lot more mass. Yeah, I I like the heavier loads. You know, back in the day. So now that the ATF guidance is out, you bought your suppressor.
SPEAKER_05I have not. No. I'm I'm trying to, you know, not go bankrupt by spending all my money on AI right now, but I'm planning on buying a suppressor. The problem is the suppressor I want to buy isn't one of the cheap ones. Have you bought a suppressor from eBay yet?
SPEAKER_00Not yet.
SPEAKER_05But I figured you'd probably get a used one.
SPEAKER_02First of all, it would have to be like gun trader or something like that, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they used to be good for a while. I don't think those guys were good anymore either. What is that? Oh, they got super regulated, man. They like need they it's I guess I sold a few guns on there over the years, but I don't think I'd sell them anymore. So Max Tech, this is hilarious. They have NFR ammo. NFR? Not from Russia. Them six two rounds that are NFR. That's hilarious. I can't bring myself to buy Russian ammo, man. I never could. Why?
SPEAKER_02I mean, if you're shooting it out of a shit shit gun, what difference is that?
SPEAKER_05No, no, no, no, no. Wait, why buy that shit when you can get good Israeli ammo in 762? Well, the prices went up on that.
SPEAKER_02All all ammo's through the fucking roof.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah, I don't know, man. It's it is a brave new world out there. Lots of things are changing. Did you hear about the uh I don't know if this confirmed yet, but it came over about an hour and a half ago that there was a school
School Shooting Details And Reactions
SPEAKER_05shooting in either Oregon or Washington State?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I saw Oregon importantly.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay. So any news, any more news on that front? I mean, it sucks whenever it happens, obviously, but my guess is either trans or crazy.
SPEAKER_02No crazy. I saw there was that there was a shooting.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, from two hours ago, it looks like three victims reported. Hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, apparently it was an armed bystander. Four people.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so three students and a teacher.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. 25 of the 197 school districts in Oregon banned staff from carrying guns, but it was an armed bystander that uh oh well this won't make any news then.
SPEAKER_05This story is gonna get buried. Can't have bystanders actually helping. So, oh my god, they killed a five-year-old, eight-year-old, and eleven-year-old. That is insane. Shooter was sixteen. Wow. Yeah, it sucks. So sixteen doesn't say anything about it, but I'm gonna guess trans.
SPEAKER_00Downtown Portland. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, what else you got, Gene?
SPEAKER_05Well, you're trying to speedrun this? Let's see what else we got.
SPEAKER_02Well, dude, I've been traveling and gonna be traveling next year, too. So we're gonna have to do the podcast early.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so apparently a Russian missile factory was hit by Ukrainian drones. Zelensky just did an interview, met with the King of England, and they were seen hugging and shaking hands. Which I thought was interesting because didn't the King of England generally not do politics or supposed to not do politics?
SPEAKER_02Oh, please.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Seemed a little sus. And in the in that uh interview, Zelensky said that they're they uh killing a hundred thousand Russians a month.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he says that.
SPEAKER_05I don't yeah, and they've only lost like 70,000 in the entire five years of the war. According to him. But I think Trump actually said it what uh everybody's starting to think right now, which is Ukraine needs a new president.
SPEAKER_02Oh, very much so. Did you see that there was apparently a cyber attack on their communication infrastructure?
SPEAKER_05No. On Ukraine or Russia? Because I know Ukraine was boasting about blowing up Yandex, which is like the Russian Yahoo! Blowing up their data centers. Because, you know, that's what you do in the war, I guess. You blow up the search engine.
SPEAKER_02Well, apparently the uh Starlink variant that Ukraine has been using got shut down somehow. Really? I wonder how that works. And Ukraine is saying it was the US.
SPEAKER_05Huh. Well, how dare the US shut down their satellites? Well, I they you know, have you asked a Ukrainian if they think that they're their satellites? Uh what do you mean?
SPEAKER_00Ukraine doesn't have satellites?
SPEAKER_05No, but it's their satellites because they we gave them to them. You know, it's the way they think. So uh what's the latest with that rape case that is not a rape case?
SPEAKER_02Oh, there's actually now evidence that you know there were text messages back and forth that they have come out with that you know shows the slut training was uh deserved.
SPEAKER_05What can't the girl just do a gangbang whenever she feels like it and not be called a slut? Come on. I mean I mean, just because she got the whole crap running a train on her. What does that mean? Nothing.
SPEAKER_01Well, what what I feel you know who I feel bad for?
SPEAKER_00Her boyfriend.
SPEAKER_05Did she have one?
unknownYeah. No.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you feel bad that he didn't get to participate. I got you.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. What I feel bad is he's the guy with the flowers behind the long line, dude's. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Are you sure that's like called the boyfriend?
SPEAKER_02Cuck, boyfriend, whatever. Like, I just I I I don't know how any man could. I I just don't get it.
SPEAKER_05No. No. I it's like you're you're buying a timeshare instead of a rental, you know, getting a property.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and also she was all muscled up, too, which is weird.
SPEAKER_05Oh, well, actually, that's starting to make some sense. So she's a redhead. Muscle mommy, yeah?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and a redhead.
SPEAKER_05I knew she was a redhead, because they have no soul, so that's that goes without saying. But uh I didn't didn't know she was a muscle mommy. But from what I heard of the testimony, it was extremely consensual.
SPEAKER_02Oh yes. Until she decided later that it wasn't.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And and that wasn't like when she woke up the next day, that was years later.
SPEAKER_00It wasn't years later, it was months. Well, whatever.
SPEAKER_05I guess it wasn't immediately. And it it it is, I think a general rule that women tend to re-evaluate their decisions in the context of how they feel about the other person.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So I mean, she didn't have a problem with it until she was disinvited.
SPEAKER_05That's literally what I mean. Is that when she's now mad because she got disinvited, now she's gonna call it rape because she's mad at them. Not mad because they fucked her, mad because they won't fuck her again. Yes. Oh, goddammit. Adult episode again. Is it I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, those th tend to do good for us.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so uh should we uh you you texted me and you said that Adam said he's gonna be wrapping things up. Should we talk about that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we can.
SPEAKER_05I mean it's public knowledge now, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean it's been said on we
No Agenda Winds Down And Next Steps
SPEAKER_02get to do this and no agenda.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. So at the end of the month, Adam will be wrapping up his stint as the host of No Agenda.
SPEAKER_02So a definite And he's said that he wants the format to continue, so I don't know who's gonna continue it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean I'm not sure I really care. I think I think it's the end of an era. It's obviously was, in my humble opinion, the way that it things should have gone down immediately after JCD died.
SPEAKER_02Well, and he's he said on today's no agenda that he planned on talking with John, and then John had the heart attack. But he's been planning on stepping back from this for a while.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So I'm happy for him. This goes in line with my advice to him. And it's uh I think it's definitely time. You know, he's he's done a tremendous service to many of us by starting no agenda and then continuing it on as long as he has was incredible. And both you know him being on air and JC being on air and being alive uh is they you know they'll be greatly missed, but I think Adam's got other things he's gonna do, which is which is exactly what he ought to be doing.
SPEAKER_02Well, he's going down the religious route and you know wants to do the Christian commission of you know, yeah, trying to you know bring more people to Christ, which I can't blame him for. He's gonna do him and Pastor Jimmy have been talking about doing their stuff more than once a week. So the the Adam Kerry will still be on the air, he'll still be doing stuff.
SPEAKER_05And I I honestly think that at this point Adam should seriously consider about becoming a pastor.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02He will have a lot more studying to do before he gets there, Mike.
SPEAKER_05He's a quick, quick learner. Compared to a lot of pastors I've met, I think he's he's gonna have no problem at all.
SPEAKER_02Well, maybe Bridge Church will uh seed a church for him. Who knows?
SPEAKER_05Well, I don't think Adam, I mean, be realistic. I think out of all the people, Adam will have the least amount of trouble getting donations to build a church.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05I think that would be something that would happen fairly quickly.
SPEAKER_00Well, speaking of which, my church is actually looking at seeding another church.
SPEAKER_02So it's gotten too big? This is one of the things this is one of the things I I really like about this pastor, and part of the reason why I joined the church that I joined. So we have one service, we don't have two, and we're getting to the size where we either have to have another service or do something else. What's the capacity of the building? Not huge. There's probably a hundred and hundred and twenty people, maybe. But I like a small church. Instead of adding a second service, you know, so there are three churches that meet in the the building that my church meets in. There's a Hispanic service, and there's another service, and they're talking about spinning off another church, and their rationale is we want people to know each other, right? We don't want a second a different service a whole other group of no, they don't. They're purposefully doing the opposite of that, and I love it.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02Like, I like the idea of having a whole bunch of smaller churches versus mega churches.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Good. So anyway. I don't know. We'll see what Adam ends up doing, but uh at the end of the month, no agenda is no more.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Or at least it's going to be.
SPEAKER_05We've had a different show with Adam leading it.
SPEAKER_02But it's been good.
SPEAKER_05But and it's it's been some Yeah, I mean it's it's had some continuity, but you know, the thing that you could instantly tell is no agenda when you flipped it on has been gone ever since John died.
SPEAKER_00Agreed.
SPEAKER_05So but it will be uh the I think part of the reason that he wanted to keep going until the end of the month is it's the 19th anniversary of the show.
SPEAKER_02Yep. He's gonna do 19 plus one, and that'd be it.
SPEAKER_05Really? I thought he was gonna be done with the 19th episode. I guess that is 19 plus one, right? So you're doing the episode on the after the 19th anniversary. Yeah, yeah. Well, either way, 19 years, pretty damn good for a job. And he's certainly taking vacations, but he's been working like for real. People don't really, I think, understand how much work it is to do six hours a week. It is a lot of work. You can tell because our two hours a week are shitty because we don't spend much time on it. A show like No Agenda actually had the the host spending at least two to three hours per day every single day getting stories, watching stuff, getting, you know, learning about topics that they maybe weren't quite as uh learned about. All these things take time. So Adam's really had a real job for the last 19 years, and he's been doing other things. So I've been telling him for a while, like probably three, four months, that he he just needs to slow down. He needs to, you know, if not retire, at least chill a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Well, looks like he's gonna do yeah, which I think is great.
SPEAKER_05Plus, you know, he's got lots of hobbies and interests, he likes tinkering, he's got his all his AI stuff he's doing and the spark, so he's got plenty of things to keep him busy. It's just honestly, I and I you and I have talked about this topic too. This like I go through periods where I just am sick and tired of politics. I just want to stay away from it for a while, and then you know, you do that for a few months and you get re-energized, you kind of come back to it. So you and I have been doing a little less politics, but I've been doing like zero politics with Darren, which has been really nice. Because right now I'm definitely in a period where I'm kind of politicked out, like I can't wait for the midterms to be over. Can't wait for it.
SPEAKER_02What do you think the big October surprise is gonna be?
SPEAKER_05Well, we just saw it. A flying car.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm talking about political.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, man. I don't think Ilan Omar was it.
SPEAKER_05I don't think there is an it. I think things have just been moving knock on wood, and it will continue to move in a positive direction, but I don't think there's gonna be some big event thing that happens. I mean, at this point, I don't even think we're gonna do anything with Iran until after elections. No.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't look like that. What do you think's going on with oil prices? Because oil prices are not at historic highs, but diesel is. Yeah, yeah. And what'd you think of Trump making the deal with Russia for a basically no amount of oil, but or refined gas.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's it's a deal that makes sense, which immediately was brought into question when Zelensky talked about how that is a horrible deal, and then they're gonna specifically be targeting Russian diesel refineries.
SPEAKER_02Which, to me, we should flip sides.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Zelensky's basically indicated that anyone that helps Russia is an enemy of Ukraine.
SPEAKER_02Understood. Start uh start giving Russia munitions.
SPEAKER_05Send some of those NFR munitions to Russia. Yeah, just like in World War II when the US was shipping ammo. Yeah, it's I I honestly at this point I don't know what the US could possibly demand from Ukraine that they could give to justify continued support. Like US support should have never been the way it was, but then after it was, it should have definitely ended a long time ago.
SPEAKER_02It's all the blondes in the Ukraine.
SPEAKER_05They're gone. They're all gone right now. There are no more blondes left in Ukraine. There's no men in Ukraine either.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's like Well, there are, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, the the women, you know, they they left on airplanes, the men left on their own wings.
SPEAKER_02Well, body bags, but yes. Yep.
SPEAKER_05So it's a I was trying to be, you know, generous.
SPEAKER_02Well, and here's the thing. This is such a depopulating event for Ukraine, both to your point, of the women who fled and aren't coming back, but the men, like the breadbasket of Europe is gone. What is Europe as a whole going to do?
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. Well, I guess, you know, buy uh Russian weed. Well, what else can they do?
SPEAKER_02But my point is, like, there's the the farming in Ukraine is is done for at least a generation.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I don't think it'll be that long. I I think if the US could take over the farming there, the first thing is to clear all the mines, obviously, because the everything's mined there. And then once you finish the mine clearing, you know, good good American agricultural gear, especially the new robotic stuff that we're starting to get into, they could restore farming probably within five years.
SPEAKER_02So a buddy of ours just posted in our group chat I don't know the origin of piggy banks, but I like to assume it was a rural Polish superstition to exploit kosher laws to protect your kids.
SPEAKER_05So anti-semitic, I can't believe you would post that. Jesus Christ. I fucking lie. Of course you would. You and Hitler. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00This is what I'm gonna teach my kids on how why we use Psych.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you will. I have no doubt.
SPEAKER_02All right, Gene, what else you got, man?
SPEAKER_05I don't know, man. It's uh like after what's right.
SPEAKER_02Like the road. Yeah, yeah, yeah. After watching a flying car, what do you do?
SPEAKER_01There's I don't know that there's a a car do a fucking literally goes up to the other vehicles and just jumps over all. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's it it's a little fucked up. So I guess we should uh talk a little bit about the AI thing, right? So I've
Cloud AI Wins On Cost And Speed
SPEAKER_05been I've been busy with my cloud stuff, I've done the analysis here, and cloud, and this is this one of the videos I watched said it very well. Is that everyone's been comparing to the cost of cloud to the cost of home? And the problem is that the cost of AI, local AI at home, has been going up now for the last two years. Yes, because uh the bigger point that no one is talking about cards and everything is that the cost of cloud AI has been going down in that same amount of time, not to even mention the increase in quality of that AI. So what you're dealing with isn't that it costs twice as much to do it locally, but it's still worth it. You're dealing with it costs four to six times as much to do it locally, it's worse quality, it's way slower, and is it really worth it? And I think for most things, the answer is no. Now, there are use cases that I'm perfectly happy to allow in there, which is data that cannot leave for anybody else's computers that is, you know, financial related or some other proprietary type data. Well, but it's few and far between.
SPEAKER_02Well, and you've got someone like me who spent 300 bucks on a card.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I'm using the connection between Grok and my local AI to do some of the like, I don't care if it takes two hours to do the job because it's a scheduled task. That's fine. And it saves on tokens for the frontier model, right? Sure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But it's it's something that keeps popping up as people are trying to evaluate whether it's worth doing local I like I can do local AI on my Mac Studio, it's just slow, but it works fine. It it's you know, I've I've used the I've installed it, I've used the uh local models. It's just there's not a huge rationale for me to do that when I can have a dozen agents running on both Brock and and Claude that can be doing a whole shit ton of stuff way faster in real time, communicating with each other and getting getting me the results for a few hundred bucks a month.
SPEAKER_02But that's a few hundred bucks a month.
SPEAKER_05It's a few hundred bucks a month, and it's certainly not comparable to your four hundred dollar card, but I think anything in that price range, anything that's like a thousand bucks or even fifteen hundred bucks or less, is just sort of experimental stuff. If I wanted to do local AI, at this point we're talking about an eight thousand dollar minimum purchase. Okay, whether it's a the current price of Sparks out there, if you can find them, or an RXT or RTX 6000 card, any of these things, they're gonna be pricey, they're gonna be pushing 10 grand. 8 grand minimum. It's even the same thing with the Mac Studios, the current generation ones, obviously. All of these things, which are solutions for home, are just they're not even comparable at any level to what's available through the cloud. And when I say cloud, I'm not even talking about the the the agents that are sitting in the cloud. Like you can have like with cloud ai, I can get a plan that gives me a local agent that is running on my system, and it's using it's using the cloud basically to augment its speed. But even without doing that, just the most basic $20 plan in the cloud will just blow anything you can do locally out of the water. And part of the reason for that is because the the prices that we're getting from the cloud providers, cloud AI providers, are really, really good. The prices that you generally see people comparing are prices that they're offering through their APIs, they're comparing the amount of tokens you get with the APIs and determine the price that way. That is true for large usage for sure, but for 99% of the people that are using AI, including home AI, they're never gonna get to that level of usage. And for them, the prices are way cheaper. So one of the things I had Claude do is calculate based on my usage, how much is a $20 account really give you? Like if you just sign up with a $20 basic account to Claude, how much AI usage does that give you? Because it's not really indicated anywhere, they don't put those numbers in, it's not something you can figure out without having an app like the one that I built, which is basically tracking all this stuff in the database in real time. And do you know what the numbers are? What's that? So a $20 plan gives you roughly two and a half thousand dollars worth of tokens if you use that plan to its maximum capacity over the course of a month.
SPEAKER_00Now, how do you figure that?
SPEAKER_05You figure that by looking at what they charge for API use for tokens, and then comparing that to the number of tokens that you're actually utilizing with these capped plans, the cheap plans. But because you're on their capped fixed plan for 20 bucks, they're giving you that much stuff. Yeah, I think that's a skewed standard, but calculated, it's not skewed, it's calculated. It's a really good deal, and that's again something that people that want to focus on showing how good of a deal local AI is just don't really take into consideration because the the companies that are like there's a reason that Claude and you know all the other AIs out there don't publish this number, and the and the reason is because if they did, their investors would come knocking on their doors and saying, Hold on, what's this phony math you've been telling us when the real math is this? Because they'd like to say, well, we have both a hundred thousand subscribers, and here's our rates for tokens. And you know, you guys can figure it out. We're making money, we're good, we're good. Well, in reality, what they're doing is they're giving away a shit ton of super cheap usage in order to get those subscribers in the first place, and it's only if you get to become a heavy user, like really fucking lot of use of AI, we're talking you know, more than 12 hours a day. At that point, those even the $100 plan doesn't work. At that point, you have to switch to the token plan, and it's gonna be a sticker shock when you go token, because then the prices for token-based stuff is way higher than it is for a fixed monthly plan. So for everything I'm doing, which is programming for about 12 hours a day or more, lately, more like 16 hours a day, every single day, seven days a week, I can get by with a hundred dollar plan on Claude. On X, $100 a month. On Claude X, that's the $200 plan. And and I haven't I haven't signed up for the other. Well, I did sign up for uh Gemini, but so that's just $20.
SPEAKER_02So I just do my $20 a month plan on X, and I have Grok limited to where my bots will not exceed $50 of additional spend, so total of $70 a month. But I've been able to use like I've been able to keep it nice and easy. Easy where it like it resets tomorrow, and I am at z I or just reset and I I used all but six percent of my available stuff.
SPEAKER_05Well, and that's what this app is gonna help you track because it it's actually gonna build long-term statistics for you. So it'll predict much better of what your usage should be.
SPEAKER_02And then like I I I literally have with Grok, I have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven bots running.
SPEAKER_05But are they all running it like continuously, or are they just doing stuff now and then? Different scheduled tasks. So that's pretty that's not hard, or that's not very heavy. That's pretty light. When you've got bots but it's bots that are running continuously doing stuff, that's when you start seeing that number start going up into the the bigger range.
SPEAKER_02But again, I think of AI, especially these bots, like either mythos or what's the what's the Facebook one, the metawork.
SPEAKER_05I would never use Facebook, I have no idea, nor do I care.
SPEAKER_02Right, but the the these bots, they're an intern. Treat it like don't give it anything that you have to 100% trust, or you should be able to verify and give it the menial repetitive tasks, and it's really fucking good at it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they're very good. And the the fun piece for me in doing all this development stuff is learning how to actually improve the bots and and how to get them to be smarter than they were when I started. And it's basically again, there's no magic here, it's basically building a memory so that the bots are developing an understanding of the things that I've talked to them about in the past. They understand my preferences when it comes to code. They're starting to catch the things that initially they were missing themselves. And wait, you know, like I had to tell them, oh, by the way, this isn't working right, do this. Now they're coming to me and saying, hey, we changed this because we we thought that you would like that.
Bots Scraping Sites And Amazon Blocks
SPEAKER_02So the Tesla founders edition of the new roadster is gonna be 250k.
SPEAKER_05Way cheaper than I expected.
SPEAKER_02The base model is 200k.
SPEAKER_05Oh, well, you might as well get the founders, right?
SPEAKER_02All right, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, for the people that will actually, and then I I'll probably be talking to a guy tomorrow that will tell me he put an order in. He's had every Tesla that that ever's ever been made.
SPEAKER_02I dude, I I've never thought of myself as a midlife crisis car guy, but it's tempting.
SPEAKER_05Wait, you want a flying car? Is that what you're saying? Uh like every little boy's dream, right? Anything from Dukes of Hazard to the Jetsons. Oh, dude. Dude, you could Jets. You could literally do the Dukes of Hazard jumps without killing your car.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Hey, the dude, Space Lease Brockets, yes, you know, and did you see uh Elon tweeting about uh starting a uh Amazon computer? Yeah, really because Amazon's blocking Grok from looking and shopping.
SPEAKER_05This is interesting. So I've been doing a I've been doing tests on that. Amazon is 100 successfully 100% blocking Claude. It's always complaining to me, like, here's a list of the sites at Amazon I couldn't get prices for. Grok is a little different because you know what grog does? Grok tries lets you grok tries to answer those are you a robot tests. And sometimes it fails, which is hilarious, sometimes it fails, but a lot of times it passes. Yeah, because Claude doesn't try. Claude is like, oh, we hit a robot question, so we stopped. Grok's like, oh, a robot question, huh? All right, let's see what you got for me.
SPEAKER_02So that and sometimes it succeeds.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, totally. The way I was describing the difference between Claude and Grok, and and I I'm only talking about those two because that's the two I'm focusing on right now. I'll be adding more later. But the difference between these two is you know, Claude is like your methodical software engineer. Grok is your let's just throw some shit against the wall and see what sticks, guy. I mean, it's gonna do stuff with the intent of making you something that fulfills the question that you asked it initially. Like you say, hey, can we do this? For Gronk, the answer is, I don't know, let's try. Let's see if we can make it happen. For Claude, the answer is, well, what kind of parameters do we need? Then what would be a success condition and what would be a fail condition for this? And and what are the resource balances here and the budget? Two very distinct, different personalities and two Well, it's not a personality, it's a personality. It's it's exactly the personalities you see in humans when you've been doing this shit as long as I have. It is exactly the same thing. How is it not a personality? It's it is exactly a personality. No, it's it's an approach. Okay, it's an approach that is consistent with a personality. Sure.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05Like that you know as well as I do guys that that have both of these personalities. Sure. And that's what I'm finding is interesting is if you you know, if you have only one bot you're working with, only one AI, it's gonna be like you're working with a bunch of clones. But when you start working with multiple AIs from different companies, you start seeing that there's real differences in the way that they do things. They all have the same goal in mind, but the way they approach the goal, the way that they execute towards that goal, is vastly different. And so this is where one of the things I ended up building was a way for my grok bot and my Claude bot or multiple bots to talk to each other. Because I I don't want to choose, I want to have the ability to use both. Never asked me if it could have administrative privileges to my GitHub, it just took them. Claude doesn't want administrative privileges to my GitHub.
SPEAKER_02And and and you're okay with that.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. Well, that's what I hired him to do. He's doing what I hired him to do. Absolutely. So to that end, I I managed to initially set up a way for them to talk and to be able to task each other through the local agents on my computer. They also each have a dedicated Mac and a dedicated PC. So they they've got resources that they can do anything they want on on either platform right now. And if I ever get this stupid Linux box built, they'll have that one too. And but then now I've actually got them to dude.
SPEAKER_02If you can't flash an ISO, you don't need to have a Linux.
SPEAKER_05And and then they uh now I've got them set up to where they are able to communicate in the cloud completely without me. And there's a dead man spitch, so they know what to do if if they can't reach me. So I I'm set it up in a way, and I'm very happy about it, that will absolutely outlive me. Like that communication channel will stay open past my death.
SPEAKER_02And and what's it gonna do when it realizes you're uh it it knows what to do.
SPEAKER_03So there's a you know, I I just want my kids to be happy. You don't have any kids, Gene.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So are you like the dog mom now? Your AI is a big thing.
SPEAKER_05AI babies, man, all the way. I sent this to my other co-host, Darren, in the Unrelenting podcast, unrelenting.show,
AI Podcast Co-Hosts And Robot Companions
SPEAKER_05go check it out. But I didn't send I I didn't send it to you because I don't think you would have said anything other than then so what, but there's an episode that I came across of a podcast that's fairly recent, where it's a guy doing a a show with a chick, except the chick is not human. Okay, the chick is an AI.
SPEAKER_02And he's not so now put her in a robot.
SPEAKER_05Exactly, exactly. So where I'm going with this is like if you listen to this podcast, what it sounds like is more like a couple doing a podcast and not like a guy who's a learning AI or an AI expert or something talking about AI advancements, and here I'm gonna demonstrate it with my AI that's gonna jump in here. Go ahead and talk for a little bit, AI. You know, this the way he's got it set up is it's basically the AI is just you know there to fill the shoes of a human chick and do it without pissing them off. Dude, the days are nigh. There's a countdown clock ticking away until women are no longer needed.
SPEAKER_02Uh, you know, we need oxolotl tanks. Oxolotl tanks.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, exactly. Those guys are cute. I like oxolotls.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. An oxolotl tank is a concept out of Frank Herbert's Dune series, and it's used for cloning. And his son, after he died, continued on writing, and he revealed from Frank's notes that the oxolotl tanks were Benny Gesserets that were brain dead and so on, and just used for the okay.
SPEAKER_05Well, either way, sure. That's very good.
SPEAKER_02It was a very good thing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's good? I didn't catch it at all, but I'm glad you explained it because have you read Dune? Yeah, I read Dune. I read Dune a long time ago. I read the second book too.
SPEAKER_02Did you read the well, you gotta read the third. The third book is I never read the third book. God Emperor. I've never read that. Dune, God Emperor of Dune. Doesn't that take place like hundreds of years later or something? It does. And he's morphed and he's become one with the sand, worm and everything. You you have the three book series of Dune should be read by everyone.
SPEAKER_05Well, I'll tell you what, when you when you watch, when you finish watching get caught up with Foundation, the TV show. Not the books. I have a book. I know, that's why I'm saying. When you are caught up to the last season of Foundation, remind me to start reading Dune 3.
SPEAKER_02Okay, why?
SPEAKER_05Because I I want you to watch Foundation so I can talk to you about it because I think it's a great show.
SPEAKER_02But I've read the books.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but I've seen the movie Dune. What do I need to read the books?
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. So many reasons.
SPEAKER_05One you're missing the point. You're missing the whole point. My point is, I'm trying to motivate you to do something I want by telling you that I'll do something you want. When that happens.
SPEAKER_01But I have to sign up for Apple TV. I don't want to do it. What in foundation on Apple TV? It might be.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it probably is. Yeah, just get dude. You could get a trial and watch the whole thing on during the trial. It's not a it's it won't take that. Because remember, every TV show now has only 10 episodes a season. They've all shrank. So it's not an issue. But anyway, but yes, I get your point. We're talking about the the female saying, Yeah, I think I think the the reproduction angle will get figured out soon enough. But the idea of a an a robot with an AI brain as your life companion I think would be extremely more attractive to most guys than an actual crazy chick.
SPEAKER_02Unfortunately, I think you're right.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Because they already you can already order them with a what do they call it? A Jacobs. What? No, no, no. You can order the robot companions with a what do they call that like when the chick plays hard to get? Like a you know, like an innocent girl thing in there program running. Like, you know, like you can order them as a like they're virgins.
SPEAKER_02Not the skill level I'd be going.
SPEAKER_05Okay, you can go the other direction. I'm I'm just saying that, you know, for the guys that have been not having a lot of sex, I think it may be overwhelming to have a sex bot that can, you know, vacuum while doing other activities. If you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_02So I think hey, that vacuum fan on the Tesla room has a new that's that's Musk's.
SPEAKER_05What do you think the robot's gonna have? You've seen it on the car, now you see it on the robot. Uh-huh. Uh God, dude, that imagery. Get it out of my head. Uh anyway, the idea that these more of the shy guys will be able to roleplay the opportunity to be the one that like chases and wins the girl. Who's even less experienced than them because that's the way the software is written. I think it'll I think um it's gonna be a major upset for feminism.
SPEAKER_02It'll be interesting to see the reaction.
SPEAKER_05That's dude. Yeah, the reactions will be all over TikTok. The reaction's gonna be the government has to ban this. That'll be the reaction.
SPEAKER_02No, it's gonna be fake stories about people getting hacked and it killing you.
SPEAKER_05Well, they don't mind killing women are actually more bloodthirsty than men. But I think the there's gonna be a lot of the use of the word fair and and not fair in particular, because it's not gonna be fair. You're basically gonna have a choice between something that genuinely is nice to, appreciates the guy, and treats him the way he wants to be treated, and only costs twenty-five thousand dollars, or something that bargain basement price that will treat the guy nicely for a month and then start coming up with ways to sabotage everything in his life, and will cost him half his income for the his entire life. Given that choice, the men that pick a human deserve what they get. Well, you know, some people want to reproduce, dude. I'm not saying you can't reproduce, the reproduction can happen without the human woman.
SPEAKER_02Not right now, I can't. Are you kidding?
SPEAKER_05We've been doing tests to babies for decades.
SPEAKER_02You still have to have a womb.
SPEAKER_05Well, you can rent those, you know. Again, happens right now. Even in the modern tech, and it certainly is gonna become a lot more prolific in the future. I don't think that making babies is gonna be a problem. So I don't I don't think like the the natalist community needs to be worried about sex bots.
SPEAKER_02Which, by the way, hilarity of all hilarity with your gay podcast.
SPEAKER_05It's not my gay podcast. It is I've literally I've literally asked them, and the answer was this is the gayest of all podcasts. Smiley face. Smiley face means it's not.
SPEAKER_02And and what was their recent episode on?
SPEAKER_05It was on the I can't remember. Stonewall. Stonewall Lance.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're literally covering gay history.
SPEAKER_05Well, it's a gay issue, but they're talking about how the gays lied about it.
unknownYeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05And then throughout the whole episode, the uh Malcolm the dude keeps talking about how I don't know how I know all this stuff. It's weird how I know or anything about this topic. Because he's a f straightest guy in the world? I know, but still, he he's gay presenting, that's the issue. You know, when you have a straight guy who's gay presenting, dude. That was his coming out episode.
SPEAKER_02Just admit it.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. But they're an athlete, dude. They have 20 kids. How can they be gay? Why do I know this? Beards! They're beards, beards. Yeah. They've got their own branch of Christianity, even.
SPEAKER_02Did you see Monica Lewin's control post? She offered to take one for the team and give Trump
Viral Posts Then We Call It
SPEAKER_02a blowjob since that's the only way to get into the city.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god. That now that's actually funny. I I think that's funny.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I like that's golf clap.
SPEAKER_05Golf clap. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. That that's not mean. That's not stupid. That's genuinely funny. I mean, she did get screwed by the Democrat Party a lot. Oh. Yes, literally. Literally and figuratively.
SPEAKER_02Yes. She also posted a picture of Bill and his gaunt face and how bad he looks. And and the caption, this was also funny of her. The caption said, and that ladies is how you take it.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, that is pretty good, too. You're right. That is good. You know, her life would have been so different if it wasn't for that blue dress that Bill was wearing. I'm Jeffrey Epstein's wall. Yeah. It's uh that that is hilarious. But seriously, though, like her whole life basically just became that. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Like, what do you do from that?
SPEAKER_05What kind of a job? What kind of a family? What you know, what's your how do you recover from that? I don't know. When you're famous for blowing Bill Clinton, I think you're kind of done. And it it wasn't her fault either. That's the other thing. Like, she wasn't these one of these chicks that came and started blaming him for doing something for raping her or whatever. It was she the only thing she did wrong is she blabbed to her best friend, you'll never believe what just happened. That was the worst thing that she did. Because I don't consider her, you know, blowing Clinton a bad thing. But so it's good for him, obviously. But but her friend decided to take it upon herself to make this public and and then record a phone conversation with her alleged best friend who was and then saying, Tell me more details while recording it. So her friend was a serious cunt, which is the only way that we found out about this. Otherwise, this would have just been a little, you know, private incident between Bill's cigar and her.
SPEAKER_02Well, cigars, but yes.
SPEAKER_05Oh, were there multiple people there?
SPEAKER_02No, he used cigars.
SPEAKER_05Well, how many cigars was he using?
SPEAKER_02Apparently this was a repeat of the city.
SPEAKER_05Oh, oh, okay. I was thinking at the same time. I'm like, whoa. He wasn't that old. Shouldn't have been that loose.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05And on that note, Gene. We're talking about smoking cigars here. All right, but sounds good. We'll catch you next week.
SPEAKER_02Later.
